Is Setanta free at the moment?
#16
We seem to be able to watch stuff on Setanta at the mo - football and rugby and stuff. Has it become free all of a sudden? We haven't specifically subscribed to it at all.
Has anyone else out there got this strange phenomenon? We have Shaw digital by the way.

It's coming up to cancellation time anyway...I wonder why they promote it before the summer???

Only cancellation time for the footie fans. If you like rugby a lot from the southern hemisphere, then summere here is the time to get it. Personally, I cancel the day after the FA Cup final until the Premier League starts again.

So I read what's going on through BBC Sports but i never seem to find it on Setanta...although now I have a PVR maybe i should search out for it and record it if it's on.

And then again to get it back.
I know I could do it by email but there are no guarantees that way.
Now that Setanta has some other things worth a look...Sports news, The Special One
I'm even less likely to cancel. Otherwise I might have to rely on your favourite Fox footie news.

I considered that before. But going through the phone menu and then waiting endlessly for someone to speak to?
And then again to get it back.

Technically you don't save alot of money $30 roughly in total and then they charge you $5 for either cancelling or rebuying (one of them) so it's only saving $25 I would rather save $25 than spend $30 and not watch it.

I found last year that there wasn't anything on but rugby/aussie rules.

Last summer, there may well not have been much other than rugby or Aussie (no) rules. But there are also 'friendlies' which are often worth a look. Various UEFA/FIFA tournaments at several age levels are also in summer.
Setanta is offering so much more now than it did a year ago and that's why I say I'm less likely to cancel for summer.
To be honest, what they give us in Canada is absolutely brilliant for such a low cost. I feel like rewarding them by subscribing for the summer even if I don't watch. Just don't tell them.

Well, wonder if I can have a word with the pub that plays all the 6 Nations and charges us $10 to get in to watch it..... Seems a bit rich they still charge for a month when it's free.... Not sure they'll buy it though.....
I don't have a telly at all, and am starting to think perhaps I should get one, I know sentanta is an addition.......

That must depend on the provinder I suppose. You've actually just reminded me there is a fee if it's done by email but not by phone. Or at least not when I last made a change with ours.

Does Setanta show Rugby League matches or do they just show Union ? I might consider subscribing after the free preview is over.

I can't swear to this but this may have no impact on what Setanta Canada shows. The service may continue to show games in Canada that are shown in the UK either on Sky or Setanta just as they do now.

Yeah i'm not sure if the UK holder sells the international rights or whether the PL sells the international rights...but if it's down to sky to sell them, they may not want to sell to a rival (Setanta) but rather sell to someone like the score/rogers...But again it's probably down to the PL who gets the international rights. Anyone know?
