I remember 9/11 well. I was teaching a class and my colleague came to get me as she knew I had friends in NY - I had just moved back to the UK. Spent a horrible 2 days trying to get hold of them and finally managed by email. My ex-boss missed being at the towers as he over slept and missed the bus. However, some other friends in Washington were not so lucky.
7/7 was spent in similar situation - trying to contact work collague on training course in London. She was OK.
Farenheit 9/11 is a controversial movie that creates room for discussion. Anyone seen The Falling Man - trying to find out who was in the images of the man falling from the tower? Only managedabout 20 minutes as reminds me of what could have been/what happened. Poor souls.

Very sad for the thousands of people who have had to live with the grief of losing a loved one.
Its very tragic that innocent people are tortured by terrorism.
My prayers go to all those innocent people and families.

I had started a business meeting in Waterloo ON at 8:30 am. The meeting involved mostly people who had had to fly to be there, both from elsewhere in Canada and from the US.
At some point (I don't recall exactly when) a flustered looking secretary type came in to whisper in the chair-woman's ear, informing her, and through her, us, that all flights in North America had been grounded, but providing little detail as to why.
At the lunch break I popped out for a fag and asked what was going on, to be told the bare details. However the meeting went on (and on) until 6 pm, and I drove home along the 401 listening to CBC radio and hearing nothing but confusion. Of course by then I was probably about the last person in the world not to have looked at a TV since my early breakfast time.
I had another meeting on Long Island on Sept. 19th. The prevailing attitude of outraged xenophobia among the local population was quite unpleasant.

I was serving in the Royal Navy at the time on HMS Argyll carrying out anti submarine exercises in the English channel, I remember it as I had been on the middle watch the night before so qualified for a morning in bed and I had just got up as the 1st tower collapsed.
Everyone in the mess were gathered around the TV just staring in disbelief!!!
9/11 changed everything for us in the forces, we were due to deploy on the West Indies guardship patrol in December 01, instead we were sent to the Gulf in January and we were instantly armed on all our gangway watches whilst in our home base of Plymouth.
A sad sad event I will never forget as I'm sure millions won't, it was one of those occasions where I think everyone recalls exactly where they where and what they were doing.

It certainly is a day that will never be forgotten. I was working for Continental Airlines in Glasgow Airport. Our flight to New York departed at 1pm, we were completing paperwork in the office when my OH called to tell us to put on the TV.....The first plane had just hit. Our flight had gone too far to return so headed to Canada (St Johns I think). Awful. I was heavily pregnant and emotional anyway but I couldnt believe what I was watching. My colleague was on holiday in NY staying at the Hilton...we called the hotel and was met with hysterical staff and alarms blaring in the background. Awful.
Watching the shows on TV this week brought major tears to my eyes and truly makes you thankful for what you have and makes you realise how important it is to say goodbye when they walk out the door as you never know....
Thoughts are with everyone 8 years on. Things will never be the same but hopefully time, as they say, is a healer.

No, I am lucky I dont have a story to share with you but my mind was and still is praising the cooridination between players of that stunt which never came on display anywhere else before - carried out by Americans on their own soil.

1, Are you serious?
2, If the answer is yes to Q1, on what basis do you think you are correct?

And peeps, I'm not defending my post at all. Just expressed my opinion which I HOPE I am entitled to.

Look dude, my original questions to you were serious and i was genuinely curious as to why you thought that way?
There was no need to reply to them with the air of superiority in the way that you did.
I'm just curious is all.
