Ye Gods! On an unrelated note, I should get to Toronto sometime again in the fall/early winter. We'll have to do beer.

Although in my early 30's, I've given up milk

Both my uncles have prostate cancer. They are in their late sixties. Both diagnosed within a month of each other about two years ago. One has been told it has spread to his bones. Although a few years younger, my dad has checks every six months and has been told by his doctor that, given family history, he is more likely to get it than not get it.

One saving grace my OM was told is that 'lots of old guys have prostate cancer of one form or another when they die although it is more rarely the cause of death'. Or in other words, be concerned but if it hasn't spread and can be managed/controlled/in remission, get on with your life.

The day after I landed as a PR in 2004, I found out my father had Prostate Cancer. Not a happy occasion. Radiotherapy seems to have kept in check so far but it is something that is always at the back of my mind. I have been checked out and will continue to be checked out regularly even though I am only 41.

Since then six month PSA checks have been zero but the last one was slightly elevated so I was asked to do a follow-up in two or so months, which I did this last Tuesday and sort of expected a call with the results either yesterday or today. Unfotunately no call.
Given that there is very little prostate left it is cause for concern to me. Not sure if the doctor is as concerned. I guess I will find out next week.

As you are aware I had prostate cancer and three and half years ago and had my prostate removed.
