Default Segway

A man has died, and that is, of course, tragic.

But, for the boss of Segway to die because he accidentally rode one of his machines over a cliff....

An irony maybe, however I fail to see the humour you seem to derive from it.

I also don't find this funny. I am just a bit confused about why anyone would be driving anything near the edge of a cliff.....

If you invented something like that you'd probably drive it everywhere, so it's no surprise that any accident he could potentially have his Segway would be involved.

His death is certainly tragic, especially for someone who has clearly demonstrated a willingness to give so much of his profits to charity.

One thing I will say is that Segways are prone to things like this. I've heard some nasty stories of Pensioners using them to get around and then slipping off the curb and having painful accidents and breaking bones.

point of order... he didnt invent it, his company took over the original company or something.

It all a bit tragic.

They say all publicity is good publicity, but I'm not sure this applies to ironic comedy deaths.

It's right up there with John Denver's, isn't it?

What was funny about that? IIRC he lost control of his plane at low altitude.

I guess I dont share your sense of humour. You arent confusing him with Rod Hull are you?

Rod Hull's was funny too!

John Denver built a home made plane which fell to bits in mid air. "I'm leaving on a jet plane.." Indeed.

John Denver did not build it, he bought it completed, and it was certified. It was built by Adrian Davis, a Long-EZ, reg N555JD.

The aircraft crashed due to fuel starvation and broke up on impact, which most things would do falling from from 500'. The NTSB report mentioned the location of the fuel selector valve and pilot actions as contributory to the incident.

Well, it would be funny if A: It was a jet plane, and B: He had built it. but as neither was true its a bit of a stretch.

Still, I still find the Payne Stewart jokes funny so who knows whats in good taste and what isnt eh!

Timothy Treadwell is another one who's death was ironically amusing. In a 'well it was going to happen sooner or later' way.

Agreed. I'm waiting for health and safety to be all over this:

"Segways to come complete with parachutes"

I think it's funny but not laugh out loud funny, as do 99.99998% of the people on this forum, especially those ones who won't admit it.
