Saudi woman to be lashed

Justified in what way? I thought I made my position clear: I don't agree with apartheid and the embargo achieved its aim (if it did, I genuinely don't know if South Africa ceased apartheid simply on this basis). What other justification are you seeking?
Do you not believe that makes it worse - they were there but chose to do nothing? Peacekeepers achieve the square root of bugger all, if they are not allowed to intervene. Perhaps you believe those being raped, maimed and killed felt better about being raped, maimed and killed as those doing the raping, maiming and pillaging were being watched by peacekeepers.
Does anyone actually believe that the West believes that the impugned laws are acceptable?
Please explain the type of pressure that you believe would work.

What would you do and why do you believe it would work?

Where have I said that? The question is: What can be done about it? You can have a meeting and criticise it; that won't achieve anything. You can have your government condemn it; that may or may not achieve anything. Your government can send in its military, overthrow the incumbent and install its own; that may achieve something or you may just be left with an Afghanistani or Iraqi situation. Some other nations may come in with you; other will sit on the sidelines and criticise everything you do.

How many ways are there to interpret the word?
jus·ti·fy verb \ˈjəs-tə-ˌfī\
jus·ti·fiedjus·ti·fy·ing
Definition of JUSTIFY
transitive verb
1
a : to prove or show to be just, right, or reasonable
In your opinion, was is RIGHT that economic sanctions were imposed on South Africa in an attempt (sucessful or otherwise) to bring an end to the unjust race based apartheid system?
Im not a lawyer, so Im not sure if that is worded in a sufficiently water tight manner to prevent anyone wriggling out of answering it, but its the closest I can get to a yes/no question without spending $500

How do the women expect to drive when their vision is impaired by the burqa
I assume she is getting the 10 lashes for driving with impaired vision and for driving with out a licence etc.

Countries that continue to inflict this kind of pain on women, need to stop like yesterday, it never looks good in the media in this day and age of real time info. On the other hand though, if it had been a guy that was to be lashed, the publicity won't have been as much.
On a separate note though, countries do have crazy laws and punishment in place that some people might consider barbaric, but what we don't want to be doing is picking and chosing who we critisize.
The US still sends people to the electric chair, but most countries in the west still accept that for some reason, or chose to overlook it because it's the big bad US

Is 10 lashes such a bad punishment for breaking a law, the fact that its a women is irrelevant, coz I am sure their are crimes where a man would get 10 lashes too. I know some drivers that wish they had got 10 lashes instead of a $500 fine and demerit points on their licences
