There's lots to see if you are into chemical production plants.

Seriously though, take a drive along the lake and you will find some interesting spots.

I can't post a link to the results (to protect whatever thread of privacy I may have left on this forum) but I'll just say that even after living 5 years downwind of LA, that was the most disturbing set of measurements I've ever made.

You may have picked up from various posts that one of my speciality areas is the study of atmospheric pollutants. That's what I was doing in Sarnia 25 years ago.

sometimes embarrased to say that my main speciality area more than likely helps the atmospheric pollutants on their merry way

Just as a follow up - on a plus side I have been promised play-off tickets for the detroit red wings 2 nd round game while I'm down there
(Some may actually see that as another downside
) - If my bloody passport ever comes back from Washington

Actually I lived in Sarnia since I was 3 and I LOVE IT and MISS IT there all the time. My family still lives there and we visit often. I live in Guelph now and would move back in a heart beat. It's a great border city with an amazing beach (Canatara Park) or (Centennial Park) on the water. There are 2 bridges to the USA the Bluewater Bridge. We have many many restaurants some of which are on the water. We have a Hiawatha race track and casino as well as a Casino in Pt. Edward.
In the summer you can go under the bridge there is the Howard Watson Nature trail that runs right through Sarnia where you will see many joggers, walkers etc. You will also find many ice cream shops, french fry trucks under the bridge.
We host the Sarnia Bayfest each year with a week of amazing bands from around the world and thousands upon thousands of people show up.
We have the Mackinaw races each year with concerts as well.
We have the Celebration of Lights at Christmas where the entire waterfront is lite up and beautiful with many families touring the scenes.
If you love hunting and fishing you will get your thrill in Sarnia.
We have a Marina if you are a boat fanatic.
We have wonderful golf courses with our own MIke Weir coming out of Brights Grove Ontario.
We have an amazing College Lambton College.
We are home to the Sarnia Storm OHL team and the Sports and Entertainment Arena and pub.
There are many bars and nightclubs if you are into that scene.
You don't pay for parking nor does it take you one hour to get from point A to point B unless you are into wasting precious time.
We have all the same stores as every other city in Ontario and our mall is called the Lambton Mall.
Its a safe community and I used to walk everywhere and in no time at all. The residents of Sarnia are big into fitness and you will see alot of sports teams and joggers.
We have some amazing fitness centers run by some great guys that I know.
Housing is very affordable compared to GTA and surrounding area and homes along the beach come with beach rights in your own back yard!
We have the chemical Valley yes but it is host to many engineers around the world and is some great money if you work there.
We have 2 hospitals St. Josephs and The General Hospital.
Sarnia is a family community as well as a great community to retire with friendly people who say good morning and good evening when you pass them.
Our police services and EMS are great with some amazing people that work and look after the city residents.
We have many churches and schools in the community.
There are also smaller towns close by Brigden, Courtright, Petrolia etc where cost is even cheaper and a short drive into Sarnia.
There is also the Indian Reserve with many great people that live there.
I'm sure I could go on and on but trust me after 10 years in Guelph I would move home if I could.
It truly is ashame that people critisize Sarnia for the Chemical Valley but I'm still kicking and the community is strong. Any rumours you hear about Sarnia and the Chemical valley is a joke as far as I'm concerned.
If you want any more info please contact me but I thought I would put my 2 cents in since I have lived and loved the Sarnia Community.

^ clutching at straws at all? You have stores like elsewhere, people that say hello, some free parking and, most surprising of all churches and schools.
Awesome, as the vernacular goes.

There wasn't a fair representation of the city so if anyone was wanting to move there I have given my honest, non-sarcastic opinion.
