Road Trip
#1
Hey Peeps,
If I was to undertake a road trip from Assiniboia, SK (where I'll potentially be working this Summer) to Brampton near Toronto (where I have friends) -it should according to Google Maps take 1 day 10 hours (1674 miles/2693km) - now, how long would it take in the real world with food/rest stops etc....I'd be on my own too, so no sharing the driving

Or should I just take a plane
Cheers

Yeah, I kinda thought flying would make more sense.
Wonder if Micheal O' Leary could be tempted to break into the Canadian aviation market

I drove from Georgetown ON (a couple of miles from Brampton) to Saskatoon last September, Route via Owen sound (ferry between Tobermory & South Baymouth) Salt St Marie/Thunder bay and driving 6 -7 hours/day. I was on my own too.
Set off on the Tuesday morning and was in Saskatoon on Friday at 2pm

Wow, that's not something you'd be doing on a regular basis!
But thanks for giving me an idea of the timing involved

yeah the distaces are a bit mind boggling, apparently it's a bit quicker if you drop down into the states and re-enter Canada at the Detroit/Windsor crossing (it's only about 100k shorter but better highways)

Hmmm, I guess they must be used to people crossing the border to save time on journeys? But you might get caught queuing - I don't know what it's like crossing at those locations, but I've always had long waits at Buffalo....

The trick with Buffalo is to take the Queenston crossing, rarely any wait.
