Default World Cup 2010 - First game?

Some friends of ours are hosting a "Welcome to Canada/Eng v USA" party on the 12th June. I have to say that given that we'll have just landed, and will be taking June as a holiday, it will be perfect for World Cup watching.

Typical start times will be 3pm EDT. Does that sound about right?

What does everyone have planned, if at all for England's first match?

I shall be firing it up on my Rogers HD with a few other prisoners of mother England and some locals who wish to be educated on the finer points of the game by yours truly.

How would the US winning by 3 or 4 goals go over in England?

You've got to really work on your attempts to wind people up on here. That's pathetic.

But not as pathetic as the idea of Canada winning by 3 or 4 goals over anyone. Including Luxemburg.

well, Canada has a 42 year old goalie, which makes David James look young.

Basically every country in the world has a national team...even the likes of

I'm sure it would go down a treat! Civil war would break out. There would be looting in towns and cities. Chavs would become what is now the middle class. The price of beer would increase, ten fold.

As pathetic as Canada's attempts at any game that is played outdoors.

Personally I couldn't give a toss what Canadians play, whether they're any good at it or even have a team for it.

As for the WC, I don't so much enjoy the games rather endure them which makes the whole situation stressful, and I'm certainly not going to invite any cradles to come over and make copious facile comments while the game is on and drink all my beer.

Johannesburg is +2 hrs GMT all year round, and currently 6 hrs ahead of Toronto. The England v USA match kicks off at 8.30pm Jo'burg time, which will be 2.30pm in Toronto and 11.30am in Vancouver.
