If I haven't wittered on about it enough, I finally get to move to Canada at the end of the month, with a month's holidays, sorry vacation, en route.
So, as I'll be taking far too many flights for my nervous stomach to contemplate , can anyone recommend some cracking reading for the trips?
All suggestions gratefully received. Ta.

I filled in a recent flight with Cadillac Desert by Marc Reisner. It's about the politics of water. That was fascinating but a bit heavy so I mixed in Riders by Jilly Cooper which is about horses and bonking.

Environmentalists bonk too though, although they don't usually put it in their books

Legend, by David Gemmell. My fave book, must have read it about 200 times. Even my mum liked it!

Airplane reading material must be chosen with care.
I am one of those people that doesn't sleep well on planes and I don't watch the movies. I have to read. Buckling up and then discovering that you've already read the book you just bought is a bummer.

Not a recommendation, I haven't read it yet - but this book by the daughter of an acquaintance of my father looks interesting...

The novel portrays the lives of natives and immigrants in northern Ontario in the 1860s. It is cold and harsh - and a murder changes everything.
...
Ianucci said he fell in love with Penney's novel after about 50 pages. "We felt that this was not just an extraordinary first novel but also an extraordinary novel," said the writer and broadcaster. "It was a very ambitious undertaking."
