My 90 year old single mother with dementia is doing exactly that same thing.
And nobody can find where she's stashing it all. She can't remember how much she's "worth" each month or how much actually arrives in her hands-but a lot of it seems to be leaking away somewhere :sneaky: |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I have a large amount of cash hidden in plain view in my house.
It's in my wife's closets, disguised as shoes. Foolproof! |

Welcome back to the island. Hopefully, your partner is not too underwhelmed by it all.
He's not impressed with Northampton but then who would be lol. He did like sports direct though and said it was loads cheaper then sports check but I didn't tell them about the dodgy working conditions at the warehouses  |

My mum used to fasten money to the pleats of the curtains...hidden by the pelmet. She also hid money in between the pages of books. Her jewelry was kept in a tin box on a ledge up the chimney. She used to somehow reach up behind the gas fire with a.magnet to retrieve it.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Yes and no. Yes in our downtown area, but the city is so spread out it's not a viable mode of transport to get everywhere, and it's not a viable mode to get to places like Abbotsford and Metro Vancouver which we have to go to often for medical appointments.
It's a tricky situation, rent when we got the car was 575/month and now it's almost 975/month so quite a large chunk of income now goes towards rent that we used to have as disposable income, and our income is quite a bit lower now as well, so increased rent + lower income = not a good situation. Hopefully the stress doesn't kill me before 40, amazing sometimes how badly stress affects ones health.

Cars are costly to run (on low incomes). Is cycling an option for local / day to day activity?

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Just got treated like a criminal at the LCBO for asking my 18 year old son if he had a preference of type of beer. I am clearly his mother, it's perfectly legal to give your own children alcohol in your own home, plus if we had driven a few Kms down the road to Quebec he could have legitimately bought it for himself.

My aunt did similar. Her daughter asked my mum and another aunt to arrange to get rid of her furniture etc. Wise old mum went through everything thoroughly. Even took out drawers and turned them upside down. She found several building society books...plus cash...taped under the drawers.
