Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
ffs what a pain in the arse it is to get to/from work sometimes...
Scooter has a flat tire so left it at work, hopefully it's okay there for a couple days.
Tomorrow I start at 4am and have no idea how I am getting there. Getting home is easy since there is transit, but no transit options at 3am.

Taxi. $45 with tip.
Retail and residential does not mix. After months of one of the retail units building and the noise another has decided to renovate.
Oh joy.
After working with a couple guys under 25 at work who are balding, I feel fortunate to have made it to almost 40 with a full head of hair, although I am sure my time is coming...lol

Oh well, at least you got paid.
I get a "free" regular extensive eye check up (diabetes)...trouble is the clinic is so far out of town it's around $50 every time. Sometimes he wants to check something more than once a year and I can do those follow ups on his hospital day but not always. $50 last month and then again February.
I could bus it, if I didn't mind changing buses twice each way and still falling 15 minutes short and waiting up to half an hour for each of four transfers in -20 temparatures.

Sometimes taxis are a necessity. I would gladly take the bus or train if available at the hours i need.

That's hard to imagine.
is there not some kind if Community Care transport? You claim the taxi fare on taxes of course? My non "lifestyle choices" eye conditions get checked every six months but at least I can drive there.

$120 just to tow the scooter from the airport to our place, the quotes for a repair are $98/hr and an hour if it only needs a patch, if replacement is needed then same rate but 2 hours and $100 for the tire.
So the scooter will get to spend some time at the airport, and now gotta figure out a better solution for work.
It's weird, 20 years of driving no tire issues, since January this year between the car and scooter this is the 4th tire issue, seems the streets of Vancouver are rough on tires.

When I need a new bike tire I take the wheel off the bike to a m/cycle tire dealer and they fit the tire for free if it's purchased from them. If I source the tire from elsewhere it's generally $25 for fitting to a loose wheel. Kal Tire do free puncture repairs if you can find one equipped/willing to deal with bikes.

I am looking at the manual about removing it, not sure it's something I can do, and will need to buy tools, so no idea if all that will end up cheaper/easier, but I am trying to find a more detailed source for removing it as the manual is a bit lacking.

Just ability transport for disabled. I was reading only the other day you need to book it two months in advance.
Income has never been high enough to pay income tax.
Sneaky.
I can easily afford it now. I'm just slightly irritated at having to again so soon. This is the first time in three years that anything in between the annual appointments I've not been able to see him on a hospital day, literally five minutes walk away.
