Default A question for Kindle users

Does anyone have the cheaper version that comes with adverts? If so are the adverts a PITA or useful?

Ta!

No, no adverts. Why and how could adverts be useful?

I've heard you get free/cheap books sometimes?

If you go to Amazon.com, select Kindle Books, select the kind you like and then do the drop down sort "price - low to high" you will find literally (pun intended) thousands of free books and 99c books.

The Amazon.co.uk site lists the top 100 free books each day - it's on the right hand side near the bottom of the page. You can't download them from there (they block it if you are registered to Canada or the US) but you can then put a search in on the .com site for that title and you will find that (mostly) they are available free there too.

Edit: Direct link to top 100 free books at Amazon.co.uk

I have a kindle, have read and downloaded several hundred books, and never had any adverts, there are many download sites you can get books for free, and these include the most popular RECENT books.

From customers who have been talking about them.

You only get the adverts if you buy an ad supported Kindle - about $30 cheaper than a non ad supported one. Yes only $30 saving if you go for the ads, so it's not that much of a saving really.

I don't have the ad one, but as I understand it they only appear on the main screen and not in the books. It doesn't sound that bad - but I still paid the extra $30.

I have had mine a year & had never heard of one with Ads - might be recent or non UK.

I download plenty of free books - from what I have seen even new books are on free & that helps them get up the most popular lists for a bit before the charges come in

all in all, I spend more on books than I did before - i have a bad habit of finishing one then buy another

Kindle with offers - $79 without is $109. Is a 6" display big enough too? Most books are bigger.

They introduced it during the summer, September or there abouts I think for everywhere.

The adverts are supposed to be localised, so for local events and deals at local shops based on your address as well as type of books based on your reading habits.
