Default Project Management

Hi Guys,

Do any of you know what the most commonly required Project Management certification is in Canada (particularly Alberta)? I'm thinking technical project management (software development etc...).

In the technology sector in the UK it's mainly Prince 2 that everyone has (at least 80% if the PMs I've come across anyway), but I have been led to believe Prince 2 isn't as heavily adopted in Canada.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks in advance.

I've found that Prince 2 isn't as recognised in north America.

I'd recommend the Program Management Institute (PMI), PMP certification - definitely the most recognised IMO.

I did all the PDU stuff and am part way through organising my hours into a meaningful form, then I got distracted by shiny areoplanes and am studying for that exam instead

PMP is certainly the more common certification in Alberta.

Just like to point out we didn't get to where we were supposed to be going.

After looking it up I don't yet meet the criteria for the PMP certification.

Does anyone know if Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) which is the entry level PMI certification is worth going for, i.e. do organisations in Canada care about it?
