The article doesn't seem to say that. The article, from 2018, says that, in the opinion of someone who doesn't know the people involved, the marriage isn't likely to last.
I am, of course, in sympathy with the view that it would be better to live in Canada than to visit the places you mention but we've no way of knowing whether or not the couple in question think that. Of course we have no way of knowing what the Duke and Duchess think. As Greer says, what interest could Meghan have in a Prince worth 53m. |

Have they requested any security? Isn't it thrust upon them because of who they are?
That sentence was removed after the Monday meeting with the Queen et al. |

Shock News - marriage on the rocks. They've just been photographed with her not gazing at him so clearly Divorce is just a matter of when. |

Re: Prince Harry and Meghan ......
Looks like the Queen has put her foot down and told them how it’s going to be.

Re: Prince Harry and Meghan ......
“I want to thank them for all their dedicated work across this country, the Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family. It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life.â€
Is not a quote that suggests a stamped foot but a negotiated settlement with the option to return. Maybe everyone wins. |
Re: Prince Harry and Meghan ......
Now we wait and see how they fare in Canada, and whether we have to pay high costs of security
There have been reports that Meghan is interested in a house on the "Golden Mile" here in Vancouver .............. Cost almost $36 million, not including any fees that have to be paid (eg transfer and registration of title, lawyers etc) ............ that's ca £27 million +/- a few hundred thousand. Also not included in future costs for that house are the following .......... several hundred thousand dollars per year for city taxes several hundred thousand annually if the house is left empty for more than 6 months of the year, from city and provincial government penalties. Plus other taxes on empty property. Cost of maintaining said house, including electricity/gas heating and light, housekeeping, gardening, etc. Security. The house was also built in 1912, I don't know whether it has a heritage designation which would control what kind of renovations could be done on it, but there could also be high costs for any renos. Similar costs will apply in Toronto. I just wonder where they are going to get the money from as that statement says they will give up money from the public purse and repay the cost of the renovations for Frogmore (though still keep the cottage and pay market rent when they stay in it), although they will still get the £2.4 million from Prince Charles. It would be a very large hole in whatever money Harry currently has! No word on whether they will actually get a visa to live here, if they have to jump the usual hurdles for wanna-be immigrants. Plus making it known that she/they would prefer the US .......... |
Re: Prince Harry and Meghan ......
Maybe, but their official statements are always going to be somewhat diplomatic. The family were never going to throw them under the bus as in house fighting makes them all look weak. Far better to spin it as a mutual agreement.
I can’t imagine Meghan and Harry would be too happy about not being able to use their “Sussex Royal†brand they have been working on though. |

They can, of course, buy a visa to live here or there or likely anywhere else. Money does that, it doesn't make them special. |

Using ‘Sussex Royal’ hasn’t been decided yet. They have retained their HRH status but will not use it for the time being...meaning that they could decide to use it in future.
