i think a Christmas card from the pupil would show appreciation. No monetary value... after all isn't the idea that it is the thought that counts?

PS .. I stress Christmas; none of this 'happy holidays' BS

teachers must either have a 4 year bachelor of education, or a bachelors AND a bachelors of education and then most get a masters. so most have 2 and some have 3.

In Canada or in England? I was looking at minimum requirements.

It's extremely bad form not to give your accountant a gift.

Please bear in mind that most of us have drunk enough wine in our lives to know the difference between a decent bottle and plonk.

My daughter's teacher last year got 14 Tim Horton's mugs She gave him a homemade gift and felt embarassed when he asked what it was and didn't seem overly impressed (Canned Pears that she'd made at a Christmas Gift Workshop).

This year I suggested we buy a charity gift (educate a child in India for a month etc) but she says she'll feel the odd one out when her friends are bringing in their gifts. So maybe I'll just bow to consumerism and buy a Timmies giftcard..

i agree accountant should definitely get wine...so their spouse's can drink it!
