If you're going for the day (admittedly a long one) shoot for the fire tower at Dorset. I think I already sang you the song of praise for Beaver Valley and, more locally, Airport Road.

Looks like a swell idea.....do you think the traffic would be a mare (Saturday a.m.)?

Yes, getting into or out of Toronto is always hell. And, on edit, passing through Barrie is excruciating, very slow, very ugly, populated by people too scary to be minor players in Deliverance. Eeek!

The Park will be packed for T'giving. You could take a picnic. The turkeys are local.

I don't think anyone does that really. In America they do, Thanksgiving is a big deal, but Canadian Thanksgiving is, I think, just like Family Day or a Civic Holiday. People are glad of the day off but a bit bewildered if you ask them why they have it.

Oh....that makes 'popping' to Algonquin less appealing then......but it would be a shame to miss such a scene.....

That must be a Toronto thing. Us bumpkins do Thanksgiving but usually on the Sunday.

dbd33 has a degree in jerking your chain. Most of the people I know (and that's quite a few) will be having some form of Thanksgiving Dinner and I believe most Canadians are aware of the celebration. He lives in a world quite unfamiliar to the rest of us.

I've always thought it to be a strange pervasion of Harvest Festival or, as it''s called in Germany, Erntedankfest. But for surreal reasons in Canada its just staying at home with family and stuffing yourselves with turkey cooked to ruination with mashed potato and squash.
