1) The pointless nature of news reporting in Canada (the report was being broadcast on the 11 o'clock news as I typed)
2) That we have yet another homocide in Calgary (irony there people irony imo we have so few that EVERYONE is reported)

The point was NOT see there is crime in Canada. I was trying to point out
1) The pointless nature of news reporting in Canada (the report was being broadcast on the 11 o'clock news as I typed)
2) That we have yet another homocide in Calgary (irony there people irony imo we have so few that EVERYONE is reported)

News reporting around the world is all the same, there is a very good program just started in the UK called Newswipe. For those of you who know Charlie Brooker then you'll know what to expect. Its specifically about news reporting and pretty much shows that its not actually news anymore its newsutainment.
Great piece in the first episode about the mass murder in Germany and a news station interviewing a Psychiatrist and he was asked how we stop this sort of thing happening..........his reply was that it should get minimal news coverage, don't hype it up by leading the headlines with body counts etc. They then cut away and did exactly the opposite.

Its all about the ratings baby. I seldom watch TV news anymore, its all about the rush to be first to cover something (Anything, although the bloodier the better, and if there is a "celeb" involved better yet), rather than the quality of the information presented.

And why the bloody hell should they? Makes me cringe at times when I see some news casts over here re on going investigations....FFS...do they really want to catch the bad guys....
