When does the bar open?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We moved into our house a year ago today and the puppy arrived a year ago tomorrow...and this is the first time she's caused trouble, so could be worse. But OH has to work today and coming home to a write off for a rug could push him over the edge.
Ladies, does your husband know how to throw a dog off a deck???? Mine does.

If Jen reckons we're getting another one she's got another thing coming. The old they-won't-return-it-if-it's-a-present trick won't cut it today.

I agree with this dude...If you don't like the girly chatty threads then surely the best thing would be to ignore them and live and let live..
Ask yourself this question...If the people acutally posting and chatting to eachother in these type threads didn't get something out of it then they wouldn't bother now would they? Let them let their hair down and chatter..there is enough stress in the immigration process as it is surely...
The way I see it is that the moderators must be OK with these kind of threads and also as someone so rightly said...they used to hang out in the lounge for this kind of chatter BUT (Big but) they wanted to hang out more will fellow Canadian interested folks...and thats the point isn't it.

OH come on DB, if you remember the Maple leaf came about as a direct result of Koogar, HWP, Steve_P and I (plus a few others) posting threads EXACTLY like these. It's pushing it a little for people to say the 'housewives' have to vacate now cos others want to make it more serious.
The threads in question aren't hurting anybody, the people who are posting in them just want to have a little fun and connect with each other. If you don't like the thread just move along to the next one, there are plenty of different threads on here discussing a myriad of topics. After all, us Brits like to talk about anything and everything

That's exactly right. The Maple Leaf came about because people wanted to have silly chats, off-topic chats, chit-chats etc, etc but didn't want to do it in the Lounge. They wanted to be able to chat with their follow Canada forum members as it would help them keep the sense of "community" that makes BE so special. So The Maple Leaf was created to keep those sort of thread away the main Canada Lifestyle thread.

We also rescued a dog from the NAWT 11 years ago and he is still going strong. He is a big fluffy furball, working collie cross with a lassie collie, called Homer!

The dog's a freakin adolescent as well. Great. Now there's two in the house.
Make mine a double.
