I'll be making pancakes, lemon & sugar, syrup or apple cinnamon, its all good chez mois.
My wife makes the best thick fluffy north american style blueberry pancakes, but for "proper" crepe style thin ones, she passes the responsibility to me. My kids dont care either way. I dont get the hostility to thick pancakes though (unless you are doing them wrong?), to be honest Ive never met a pancake that I didnt like. As for lent, I imagine the catholic contingent under my roof will be giving up something, no idea what though. Did yorkshire pudding on Saturday with the roast. On the barbeque naturally:unsure: |

We've just had ours too. Hubby likes them with lemon and sugar but I've more of a sweet tooth so had the nutella and bananas and some with stewed raspberries and blueberries with cream - yummy. I do also like the North American style of pancakes but on pancake day it has to the big ones you can toss and flip!!
BTW I also used to have golden syrup on my yorkshire puds as a kid! My mum always saved me one to have after my roast. |

I remembered it was pancake day as it is always "the last day of carnival" here in Italy when in olden days the rich and greedy Venetians had their last day of super indulgence, and nowadays the kids dress up, have parades and a couple of days off school.
Conveniently forgot that it was tied to Lent, but I'm not giving anything up. I like my vices and little indulgences too much. |

I bet the churches have been busy with all the devout Catholics cleansing themselves of sins before Lent. Me .... after spending carnival week with flu, I finally said "sod it" to Lemsip and Beechams and I'm having a proper glass of wine. If I went into a confessional today, I'd probably die in there before I got to regaling the priest with even half my sins :eek: |

Hubby makes THE BEST (French Crepes) pancakes, not those horrible thick things served for breakfast over here. Thats dinner sorted..... |
