Pancake Day

Is anybody going to make pancakes tomorrow? I think I'm going to give them a ago this year, but proper ones not the horrible American style ones.

I can't be arsed myself, but is anyone giving anything up for Lent?

I made some 'proper' pancakes not so long back (as opposed to the packet mixed butter and maple syrup covered ones that we normally have for breakfast). Complete with lemon juice and sugar on the table.

You should have seen the look on hubby and his sons face - it was like I was asking them to eat their own grandparents.

Proper pancakes . I'll be making those with the lemon juice and sugar too. The problem is the husband. He can eat as many as I can make. I have to hide mine in the warmer.

Our pancake day gets rolled over to Wednesday as it's Parade night at cadets on Tuesday.

Proper ones, lemon and sugar.

Golden syrup???

Do you put that in the batter or on the pancakes? Whose tradition is that? Because I've never come across it before.

I make a batter from milk, butter flour and eggs, and serve the pancakes with castor sugar and lemon juice.

I'd forgotten it was Shrove Tuesday tomorrow. Just checked my eggs in the fridge and they had to be eaten by Saturday. Oops....made a batch of fluffy American style pancakes yesterday for breakfast and nobody was sick, suppose I had better get some fresh eggs in the morning.;)

Lemon juice and caster sugar is the only way to eat proper pancakes :D
