Re: One beer

At the risk of being identified as one of those snooty look-at-us-we-don't-like-bubbles-in-our-beer CAMRA types (minus the beard and the jumper), my nomination would be Hook Norton Brewery's Old Hooky - but only if my supply is fresh from the brewery and in cask; the bottle-conditioned version just isn't quite the same. If I could also persuade the powers-that-be to magically transport the Pear Tree Inn in Hook Norton (the brewery tap) to wherever I happen to be when I fancy a pint, that'd be lovely too, thanks.

This is definitely an all-day beer, too - although I haven't had it for breakfast since student days, I seem to remember (vaguely...) that it goes down very well either on its own or with a fry-up, whether or not one has yet been to bed at that hour of the morning. Couldn't do that today, mind you - it takes me seemingly days to recover from even the most mildly overindulgent evening.

I note that it was voted "best beer in the world" by readers of the Independent in 2010. Seems I'm not alone in my preference. http://www.hooky.co.uk/our-beers/cask-ales.ashx

I can't stand them CAMRA people with their snooty look-at-us-we-don't-like-bubbles-in-our-beer or karaoke attitudes.

You forgot their obsession with no obtrusive music, no jukebox and the pub must have a real fireplace.

Jesus. I call Jason Kenney a kn*bhead on one post and get censored. You call Mumford and sons c**** without even a word.

It's because this is indisputable and is in fact the correct term for them. ;)

All beer is good at breakfast. Otherwise, what is the point of getting up?

I like many different beers so.. Doesn't matter so long as it's good, I'll be happy to have beer to drink for the rest of my life.

If you don't pick just one, you unfortunately die. Sorry. Dem's da roolz.

So it's one beer or no beer. And if you don't pick one, we'll assume you prefer none. And if you prefer none, we'll assume you're a poof.

Every proper bloke likes beer, only maniacs don't. You need just pick one to live with the rest of your life.
