Official thread: Royal Wedding.

On the 29th April 2011 at Westminster Abbey, Prince William is going to marry his long time sweetheart Kate Middleton. Put any heart-warming tributes, wishes or experiences here.

I asked my Canadian bosses but they won't give me the day off even though the British government has declared it a bank holiday. :frown: I suspect I'm like a lot of you and will take a sick day instead. Plus, thank god for PVR/DVR's as I now won't miss a single minute of the happy event.

Is anyone here going to organize a street party?

No, but I've been invited to a deck party.

I'm hoping to work that day so I have an excuse not to go

My dad was visiting recently. It was embarasing how many canadians asked him his opinion on the royal nuptials. He was surprisingly diplomatic on the subject.

Can you get bunting in Canada?

I've got a bank holiday - well, that's not strictly true, but I intend to bunk off work. If those buggers in the UK that I work for are getting a free day, then I am too:frown:

I realise it can get expensive but these kinds of events don't come around too often so I'm going to do the full monty and push the boat out. Can you get cherryade over here?

You'll need Bakewell tart too, and some egg sandwiches.

Will you be wearing your Union Flag pinny?

I'm hoping for a fight at the reception.

You've got to move with the times though haven't you. Are you one of those miserable people who doesn't even own a copy of "a candle in the wind"? You should just be happy for the royal couple and their special day.

I thought this thread was one of those places where you could express your opinions in private and not be judged. But I will enjoy the day and celebrate with the same gusto as if she was of proper pedigree to marry our future king. The fact that her parents are scheming tradesmen who no better than that womanizer, Dev Alahan, won't sour my joy on the special day

No doubt the sight of Liz catching public transport back from Sandringham is also a major concern...

Oinks has a point. This could end up with another Its a royal Knockout, on the Horizon. I don't think anyone wants to see that again.

There's no telling what kinds of personal wedding stuff they'll flog on ebay as well. I really think marrying down will be his undoing. But I don't have a crystal ball so who knows? And we shouldn't focus on the negatives.
