There is a farmer who sells some good sausages at the farmers market. I think all his stuff is free range but not too pricey. We bought some great pork sausages from him recently. I can't remember what his farm is called. If you PM me I can describe where he can be found at the farmers market.

What, my dear, do you want from an "English breakfast" in an Italian restaurant? It's a poetic interpretation, innit?

It's heresy.
Still, I'm surprised it stayed intact long enough to pose for a photograph.....<scoff devour scoff>

btw, I trust you note the absence of that other breakfast staple, baked beans. That was out of deference to your goodself and a desire not to see the depths of the canal in dead of night.

Honestly, these people moaning about the quality of their bacon don't know they are born.

My husband really missed English style bacon and before christmas decided to cure a loin himself. It was not perfect but not that far off. Practice makes perfect!!
The colour was not quite right though. More pork than bacon looking.
My son is learning how to make sausages tomorrow in the restaurant where he works. Once he is more experienced, he can start experimenting with sausage meat and the usual crap that goes in most english sausages to see if we can get anything like a british banger.
I just hope the skin they use is "softer" than on the shop bought ones here.

Well in that instance you have to be resourceful. If the thatch has given way, and so cannot support the weight of the chop, then just throw it to the floor and watch them scramble for it. It doubles up as entertainment, you see. Plus, it weeds out the strong from the weak and makes sure there are fewer mouths to feed come New Year.

If you study the photograph you will note that dbd had no sausage on that occasion. As sad as this omission is, I am not responsible for it's loss. Perhaps there was simply no room on the plate for such a hefty morning treat.
