Re: Nov 8 who is heading south?
For the land border for trips under 72 hours, you would think CBSA could verify in some fashion when someone exited Canada, and just put an exemption for trips under 72 hours, its a waste of money for people, waste of resources and time as well, and wont prevent someone from bringing COVID back, I honestly see no viable reason for the testing requirements for trips under 72 hours when crossing by land, seems like theatre with no useful purpose, but hey money maker for places like Shopper's.

Not me.
And that's not just because the USA is west of the border.

I not encouraging anyone to panic buy but keep an eye on the requirements for everyone including essential workers to be vaccinated to enter the US come January. There could be further disruptions to the supply chain.

I cross south to go across the border if going to the lower 48, but I could also drive north or northwest is it and cross into the US in Alaska, really just depends which part of the US your going and which part of Canada your coming from. If you include flying, Hawaii and Guam are what sort of South West, I suck at geography...
Canadian border is weird, aren't parts of Ontario further south than parts of Washington state for example? I Vancouver is further north than Toronto, so seems parts of Washington must also be further north than Tonroto and other southern ON city's.

They are all closed with no options for schedule when I looked online the other day to book one for my daughter?
So the US Land Border will be reopening to travellers on 8 November. Around 80% of people living in Canada live within a 2 hour drive of the border. Now of course nobody is saying at the moment if returning Canadians who drive down after this date will require a PCR test. Will the US accept mixed vaccines?
I just checked locally for the cost of a PCR test and it is $250. I am not that desperate to visit a mall for the day or a weekend.

Happy to show my vaccine passport and wear a mask but not prepared to travel anywhere until the mandatory testing that I have to pay for is done away with. I’ll go and rest if they make it free though

NEXUS and FAST enrollment centres remain temporarily closed as long as COVID-19 border restrictions are in place.
Existing NEXUS and FAST members who renew their membership before the expiry date on their card will retain their membership privileges for twenty-four months beyond their scheduled expiration. Therefore, please renew your membership before it expires to avoid losing your privileges.

How have you managed to get an interview?

I was excited about it opening so we can go to our cabin in Birch Bay but then I saw Canada still has the testing requirements and I was like no. Same attitude with going to the UK right now.

Don't know. Guess I got lucky. I renewed my membership in Jan 2021 and at that time it was allowing me to book an interview for Nov so I did.
COVID-19 border restrictions are likely to remain in place for the next decade with the way things are going, I know that's all the limited info the Cdn gov't has been willing to provide on it but it isn't helpful. Does the land border being open to vax'd travelers still count as "COVID-19 border restrictions"? Because again it seems like for or against mandatory vax it will be mandatory to cross the border for a long time.

Some renewing Global Entry members who are conditionally approved are eligible to participate in the pilot. Renewing NEXUS, FAST and SENTRI members will be integrated into the pilot over the next several weeks through a phased approach. First-time TTP applicant are not yet eligible to participate.
To be eligible for the remote interview pilot, TTP members must:

This may be of interest ... https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/nationa...veler-programs
not in any hurry tbh but obviously if and when border opens and if and when we go, we’ll have to use regular lanes
