I wasn't responding to PP, I was responding to CanadaJimmy who made a general comment about Conservatives belief. Let me remind you - "Conservatives always want penalty by death. It’s not enough to capture the suspect, they take glee in them being murdered in retribution."
And then I extended that in to the "Good guy with a gun" scenario.

Why do you deliberately make this so difficult?

That's not a question needing an answer.

My comment was just based on callous remarks I see from the Canadian right all the time.

And yeah I don’t think him being killed is really unexpected or necessarily wrong, but any life lost, particularly a 20 year old, is still unfortunate, because they went down the wrong path and made bad choices. America’s gun and machismo culture, and/or whatever other factors were in play, lead to lives lost including the perpetrator. That isn’t something to be happy about.

You were the one that mentioned suspect not necessarily being the guilty party. I accept that the rest of your post contained "Whataboutism?"

Cruelty is central to modern conservatism. It's not enough to win, others must suffer. In Trump's case, he's encouraged political violence and battled gun control. Schadenfreude is a reasonable reaction.
