How excited am I??
A few weeks back we emailed resumes to 2 firms that are similar to those that DH works for here, one emailed back immediately and asked that he give them a call to discuss work. He rang and the chap was very positive and asked him to come in the week we get there as his firm will be expanding this summer and he thinks he will have something DH may be interested in. Not a job offer but certainly a positive sign. The second firm emailed yesterday saying basically the same thing....
And I applied for one job at the College of NA months ago on a whim then realised I really shouldn't start looking till little one settled at school...yesterday I had a phone call telling me the job was filled but would I like to come in on the day after we land for an interview for a supply post
Again, certainly not a job but 3 interviews when we dipped our toes in is quite nice. Not feeling quite as scared now. I am sure we will find work at some point soon.
Just need to work on getting rid of my Wiltshire accent now - that won't go down well at all with the family....

They are exceptionally friendly and I often tell people that I have eaten in the finest restaurants in the world, but the best meal I had was outside of Cornerbrooke, cooked the lobster at the side of the road, she charged us a couple of bucks a pound, we had to tell her how much we owed 'cos she couldn't do the math, bought Beer at the gas Station, ate it in the bush watching for the Constubulary.
Only Newfs could hold a regatta on a Duck Pond.

dbd , now I am Retired I have three Platinum Cards and they keep raising my Credit Limit, even though I don't want any more.
My most memorable Restaurant , I don't remember the name , was in Lyons, I was taken there and the French really do things with style.
Worst, London Restaurants, total overpriced grissly beef, I was staying at the Pembridge Arms near Hyde Park, I cannot ever remember getting a decent meal in England, not once.
Sydney, woke up on a Sunday, spending $300 for a room , went for breakfast, every bloody restaurant in the hotel was closed because they had to pay staff overtime rates on a Sunday and the Hotel would not.
Australia is a spot to which I will never return, England in the 50's with a Sunlamp.

I used to think the platinum Amex quite flash but when we went drinking with the Queen of the Chavs, the marvellous Julie Burchill, she had a black one; that was quite humbling.

Was hoping you would tell me some of them...but you didnt bother but I see Dbd has managed to get it outta ye. So where is your fave place in Canada then?

Not in the 70s. In in 00s, since I've taken up with the YAL (who's greatest claim to fame is once having been mentioned in a Burchill column). We've a picture she plucked off her living room wall in Brighton and gave us to take back to Canada.
I have an Amex credit card, it used to be called Optima or something, though I've never used it. No, I mean the no-limit charge card, I have that because when we do trade shows there can be huge bills for parties and whatnot, the lack of a limit is the attractive feature.

Locally, I like these:

http://www.lamaquette.com/
http://www.cafebrussel.com/main.htm
"liked" in the case of the latter.
Not French but last night we were favourably impressed by this place:

I also loved Drew Carey's restaurant, so much better than his show!
Worst place I've eaten at over $100 a plate was Emeril's; what a load of hype over bland dinners. We could have been at K Paul's.
