Newfoundland Inbreds

Inbreeding is surely more about brothers and sisters and/or REPEATED first cousin to first cousin (I had a friend in ON who was her own 3rd cousin... now THAT'S inbreeding!!!
) than occasional situations. Being English where it's considered totally acceptable for first cousins to marry, I find it amusing when I see the horror on the faces of Canadians who consider this incest. After all, who actually decides what relationships are taboo and why?

Whatever their motivations, the laws are not supported by science. According to the National Society of Genetic Counselors, birth defects are 2 to 3 percent more common in children born to first cousins than among the general population — a real risk, but not enough to justify the bans.

Whoa where did those last two posts come from...
As the Captain said to the Co-Pilot, "Hold 'er knute she's headed for the rhubarb" as another successfully hijacked thread is dragged back on topic.

I'm saddened by this thread - not through the banter by regulars but that they, the OP and moderators, think that the title to the thread is acceptable. The OP at has a track record of being disparaging about Newfoundland, clearly his 9 years living here were not the happiest of his life. Thats his perogative, but frankly both the title and the opening post are offensive although of course that was the intent. Which makes him a bit a prick in my book.
I look forward to another thread entitled 'Native gas-sniffers'' which would be similarly hilarious. Or would that fall foul of the censors? I suspect so.

No, it's called following the site rules.
So far, we have only had one complaint about this thread so by that measure, only one person on the forum is offended. If more of you are, then by all means, feel free to report it. But, it doesn't break any site rules, unlike the ones the other day.
As Iain has said before, there really is no hidden agenda, we are simply here to make sure that everybody complies with the site rules they read when they signed up. It is not 'selective' in the slightest - if it breaks a rule it's dealt with, and if it doesn't, then it's left alone. Simple really!

Google Newfoundland Inbreeding, you'll notice over 31000 results, so why be so sad about this thread, for intelligent minds there is nothing wrong with this thread.

Personal attacks are against BE site rules didn't you know however, your location excuses you of course, not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but a tool none the less.

I also plead guilty to being personally acquainted with AX, who I like a lot and who merely lives in NF with his wife from there.
So lighten up dude.
