Definitely complacent.

Tories.....looking forward to the coming entertainment, popcorn at the ready
Assuming it's all going to go their way, sitting back, not even bothering...then finding out too late that something didn't go as they'd have liked because they didn't put the effort in.

IDS got the votes of over 60% of the party membership in the 2001 leadership election. He lasted for 2 years until a vote of no confidence.

You're assuming he isn't toppled by his own party before the next election. Half the existing shadow cabinet won't serve under him and he's already alienated his own supporters by appointing his mate John McDonnell as shadow chancellor. All it needs is a vote of no confidence and he's gone.

Sounds like the basis of a Daily Fail article....

Apparently he's been “blasted” in the media for failing to sing that awful dirge that passes for the national anthem and for wearing a jacket and trousers which didn't match.

This is what I meant earlier. People will get so fed up reading boring, pointless, pathetic stuff like this all the time that they'll stop paying any attention at all. And then because their passions have not been aroused, they'll find their stance softened.

He was wearing someone else's shirt as well. With the top button undone.

Take a look at what just happened in Australia to a serving Prime Minster who won a general election less than two years ago. It's not so far fetched.

He, apparently, will refuse to wear a red poppy on remembrance day, and he obviously doesn't respect the monarchy, which could be a problem if he does become PM and has to have regular audiences with her..

No chance of that. He's even worse than Obama in being able to do politics.

On the other hand one could pay attention to his words.

“My mum served as an air raid warden and my dad in the Home Guard. Like that whole generation, they showed tremendous courage and determination to defeat fascism. The heroism of the Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain is something to which we all owe a enormous debt of gratitude.”

He continued: “The loss of life – both civilian and military – should be commemorated so that we both honour their lives and do all that we can to ensure future generations are spared the horrors of war.”

and he obviously doesn't respect the monarchy, which could be a problem if he does become PM and has to have regular audiences with her..
Being in favour of abolishing the monarchy isn't the same as not respecting someone. Are you aware he has already accepted the invitation to join the Queen's Privy Council? Does that suggest a problem having a chin-wag?

I saw the Scum is piling in already without bothering with consistency. But as it has tits, it can be given some leeway.

The Fail, not so much.

He'd get just as much grief from the uber Brit nats if he had sung the anthem for not being consistent in his views. They absolutely hate him - interesting few months ahead.

Tbh I wouldn't even be able to sing it beyond the first line. Never learned it as I have no interest in singing an awful dirge about God and the Queen.

It has become so anachronistic, hasn't it. We need some new lyrics (to the extent that we need one at all - we don't).
