They are simply the European/UK Vauxhall Astra with a new badge stuck on.

Look good, handle properly, hatchback etc.

Very good price too as were never popular over here. Lot less than you would pay in the UK.
I thought about one of those. If I can find one. I think they stopped importing them last year. I agree, good cars.

What's the build quality like on these and Saturns in general? You're right, they are very cheap.

I think they are just Opel Astra's with a Saturn badge on them.

No idea about Saturns in general (not usual a brand I would consider) but the Astra should be fine as they are built in Germany.

Quite a few around TO for about $14K for a 2008 main dealer car.

In Vancouver you should go to this place for some entertainment:

http://www.britishclassicauto.com/

I bought a few dodgy cars from them when I was there. Owned and run by a really funny British guy called Martin. Total wide-boy but good value. He sold me a 1988 Jaguar XJ12, a 1969 MGB and a 1988 Alfa Romeo 75. All were interesting to own.

In fact he has this for sale at the moment which might work perfectly:

Oh no, that's not Oink's style at all.

I'm sure this http://www.trabant-nt.de/324/de/home.aspx would fit the bill perfectly.

Although, I don't know if it comes in silver.

Saturn no longer exists in Canada.

Although if you could find a new one it might be at a GM dealership as GM said they will honour the warranty and stock parts.

Are you 100% sure on this? OK Technically true (as it is for SAAB) BUT I'm reasonably sure Hyatt down at Heritage Mall is in existence till Dec 31st.

As for build quality, my Vue never gave me ANY trouble (despite being a plastic body)

My mistake, I was thinking more of the Saturn dealership in Crowfoot which is now a Hyundai dealership I believe.

Now: who was it that said we should stop generalizing about Canada from local experiences?

Oh, yes, I remember.
