Peacock

Cillian Murphy like you've never seen before.

Weird but very watchable.

La Cabina or The Telephone Box from 1972. A short.

Some workmen install a new phone booth in a square. The first user (after discovering the phone isn't connected) gets stuck and nobody can free him.

What starts as a bit of slapstick develops into something more sinister when the workers return and take the phone booth away as if to rescue him.

Thank you for the "Having You" recommendation I will give it a try.

Last night I watched "Rush" which was the Nicci Lauder/James Hunt F1 tale. I thought it was one of the most enjoyably watchable films I've seen in a long time. My son, and husband both enjoyed it too. Sadly if I like a story they generally don't, they prefer more violent action or sci-fi. It was nice to find a film that ticked all our boxes.

An oldie.

Trial and Error - originally The Dock Brief.
Peter Sellers and Richard Attenborough from 1962.

A little gem that I'd have expected to have seen on a Sunday afternoon decades ago.

Patriots Day was rather good, if you get the chance watch the HBO documentary whose focus is more on the victims recovery which is amazing to watch. Was interesting to see what was going on while we were down there, I think the marathon was on the Monday and we arrived on Tuesday in Boston leaving on the Friday when the city was shut down.

Just watched W.M.D. which was really rather good despite the annoying way it was shot with all that CCTV/hand held camera stuff.

I'm glad I was able to get past that dislike but the makers really could have conveyed everything without it all the way through.

In Time. Nice little futuristic plot where people stop ageing at 25 but then only have a year left, with the privileged wealthy being able to add time.

Not sure how this one passed me by before, coming in a group of movies like Gattaca and Equilibrium, to remember a couple.

The only movie that grabbed me this year was one I saw on NF, The VVitch. Great quality movie all around, but more of a "supernatural drama" than a straight up horror flick. Great ending too. Interesting trivia: It was shot on the northern edge of Algonquin Park.

I watched Rush again last night, now it's on Netflix ... it's an excellent movie. If your son and husband enjoyed that then a movie in a similar genre, albeit a documentary is "Senna"' which is, unsurprisingly, about Ayrton Senna.
