If anyone in NS saw the news today about the traffic accident in New Glasgow, involving an out of control truck and numerous cars, well....., that was my daughter who had to be rescued from the crushed car and flown by LifeFlight to the children's hospital in Halifax.

She is OK, looks like no serious injuries, which is just a miracle considering the damage. I really thought the worst the moment we were hit. It was maybe six or seven hours after the accident occurred that the various tests on her were completed and she has pretty much been given the all-clear for serious injuries (but is cut and bruised almost everywhere and has to undergo further blood work in an hour or so)

I know there are a few local forum members who know my daughter well and I just wanted to pass on the message that she seems to be doing ok so far. Plus, I can't sleep, can't close my eyes without seeing some fairly nasty visuals and I'm just trying to occupy myself here for a bit.

OMG J, heard it on the radio and even saw part of it later when I went to the mall. Just saw all the photos in today's newspaper - that was one horrific accident . There was definitely a guardian angel looking after you all.

I am so pleased that Abbey is not seriously injured. Very traumatising for you all though and I hope you manage to get some proper rest over the next few days so you can all start to heal. Give me a shout if you need any kind of help over the coming weeks.

Luck, miracle, unbelievable. We were even making the comment today that Abby might be the real version of the character from that Bruce Willis movie `Unbreakable`.

So she is doing really well, off the IV and onto liquid foods today and hopefully solid food tomorrow. She walked around the ward with me a couple of times this afternoon and even managed a couple of smiles. They`re even talking about letting me take her home on Monday (not that I`m looking forward to the driving ).

I`ll probably be spending the next few days trying to track everyone down who was involved in the rescue, so they can meet my daughter and we can thank them personally. Many heroes and total professionals and the IWK was amazing (someone said there were 15 doctors of different areas of expertise waiting for us when we landed), just incredible facilities.

There is a photo I found on the web in the early hours this morning. It`s attached, I still can not truly believe all that has happened. She was in the back right seat (which doesn`t look like it exists). And, apart from a few cuts and bruises, she`s ok

I went to a 13 year old boys funeral today, he wasn't so lucky, life is so damn short sometimes, it really makes you appreciate what you have got.
