Well...we know he was interviewed in the UK by a local rag last week, before he legged it to France according to the CBC
He said this "I just can't stopped killing". CBC also interviewed his ex who said he has a violent temper and probably would do it again if not stopped sooner |

The above rings true for nutters. If you're going to turn psycho and kill somebody for pleasure, movies and games won't make a difference. They may be a trigger, but if they're not then something else will be
Would a psychopath with murderous tendencies still become a killer if s/he lived with a well-adjusted family and a community where people interact with each other regularly? Possibly, it does happen now, but on the other hand the warning signs would be more obvious and intervention more likely to take place. You always hear about the nutters who do nutty things but you don't hear about the nutters who got committed to a mental hospital. |

The theory I've seen put forward is that as society becomes more complex there is more scope for social exclusion so people engage in ever more bizarre behaviour.

The worst thing for anyone with any kind of psychiatric problem is to be isolated and excluded from society as it just ends up making everything worse in general, but that is exactly what happens to so many with psychiatric issues, family and friends just disappear and want nothing to do with them because they are deemed too difficult to deal with. Granted most with psychiatric issues are of no threat to others and just end up having a lonely life if they find themselves excluded. |

Re: Manhunt for Magnotta
Reminds me of some classic movie dialogue:
Will Graham: I need your help, Dr. Lecter. Hannibal Lecter: Why should I? Will Graham: I thought you might enjoy the challenge. Find out if you're smarter than the person I'm looking for. Hannibal Lecter: Then by implication, you think you are smarter than I am, since it was you who caught me. Will Graham: No, I know I'm not smarter than you. Hannibal Lecter: Then, how did you catch me? Will Graham: It's all in the court records. What does it matter now? Hannibal Lecter: It doesn't matter to me, Will. Will Graham: You had... disadvantages. Hannibal Lecter: What disadvantages? Will Graham: ... You're insane. http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Red_Dragon
