There are disturbances in Ealing and Croydon and it is beyond Police control...... My facebook is going crazy from contacts in London.

People are just turning up looting where ever they can.

Apparently the army is popping in to sort out the peasant scum

I'm off to the beach to chill out shortly so hopefully there'll be some head bashing footage for when i get back

Apparently the looters have been learning what to do from GTA IV. It says so in the Evening Standard (paper version) so it must be true. I'd get my copy of the game out so I could pick up a few rioting and looting tips, but unfortunately I already sold it to a man in a hoodie and a canucks top a couple of months ago.

Are you not allowed to shoot looters? or is that just during a war?

Who cares, I vote "Shoot first, ask for permission later".

You know they are all just scumbag maggots, as they are looting things like Big screen TV's and stereo equipment, not important things like, you know, food maybe?

I don't care how young, or how un-educated, or un-previlaged they are, they are animals and should be treated as such.

Many of my family members were raised in "less prosperous" areas of Glasgow, but they never acted like this. They went to school, paid attention, and got their qualifications for future careers and University. So harping on about "oh, we don't any opportunities, there's nothing to do" etc etc, is absolute bull.

Kids and teens are lazy bastards these days, they want everything brought to their rooms on a plate while they play Halo or tweet about the latest fart they just did.

Our country needs a boot up the arse. Less of all the "I spilled hot coffee on myself so I'm going to sue you" attitude, just get on with your fekkin job.

I didn't start this post angry but I seem to be getting there

I'll stop now :o

They should have listened to the Kaiser Chiefs. Apparently they predicted this back in 2005.

I like riots. A bit of rioting allows the kids let off a bit of steam and then everything can go back to normal. No harm done.

One wonders why the papers never mention people looting small or medium screen televisions. It would seem much more practical to walk home with a more compact model and, anyway, in the relatively small living rooms of the UK, large television screens tend to look vulgar. Were I caught up in a riot, I think I'd look for something in the 22 to 24" range.

Granted, looting Morrisons doesn't quite have the same cache as storming the Bastille but you've still got to applaud the effort.

This is the future and it's due to a large segment of society that is unemployed and mostly unemployable.

I grew up when everyone could find a job and didn't need a higher education. In todays job market it's almost impossible for these people to find a job, it's easier to thieve to exist.

Large societies that have heavy top down control have been having periodic riots for hundreds of years. I doubt the frequency of them will necessarily increase over the next 50 or so years.

This is the generation who've just watched their MPs troughing themselves with 42" plasma TVs, putting it on expenses for YOU to pay for, then trying their hardest to stop it becoming public knowledge.

The City is behind the biggest fraud and theft for personal gain in British history - and were funded by the Government to do so.

The senior cops are at it as well, taking News International backhanders and then getting jobs with them.

Cameron and the Chipping Norton set with their Tuscan villas and Burlington Clubs couldn't find youth disaffection in a dictionary.

The people who are supposed to be in charge have betrayed the country and have no moral authority. They cannot accuse the youths of doing worse than they have.

Bring it on.

There have always been gangs in large cities but they didn't run riot.

I left school at the age of 14 in 1944 and there were jobs of all descriptions for young people plus at the age of 18 you had to spend 2 years in the military.

I was able to climb the job ladder due to taking evening classes and the excellent training I received in electronics in the RAF. I was in continuos employment for 48 years and only had one week unemployed.

I feel sorry for todays youth the deck is stacked against them especially young men.
