Same fire. Last week it was reported that a student from Africa who lost everything had been taken in by a couple (total strangers) who were providing for him but who were not in a position to help with replacing his laptop needed for studies.

I awaited the expected follow on report of Staples, Futureshop or some other business presenting him with one.

Instead, it's a seniors home. The residents. One of them read the report and together with the manager of the home they decided to raise the money for him. At the time of feature on CBC this morning, they hadn't yet raised it but the manager is so confident, she's already bought it.

They're even making comments about "adopting" the guy.

Canada should be barred from sitting in the UN General Assembly until the Harper Government starts paying attention to UN recommendations on human rights issues. This supposedly lesser of three evils government is a disgrace.

It seems to me that Saskatachewan is crying out for a decent sub-editor. Is that the best they can do?
