I wrote “Nibbely things” but it came out quite different to what I posted!?

Anything fishy should be really good here!

The cod part of the fish and chips at Kelsey's is brilliant. No good anywhere else I tried and it's mostly haddock for fish and chips anyway.

I was right.
I bought some 'crab sticks' yesterday. In a soft roll, with mayo. Much nicer.

True though. Look through the list of ingredients on Swiss 'Crab Sticks' and spot what's missing...

It's missing because it aint cheap. We split a crab leg as an appetizer at Christmas. It was $64, ($49.99/lb).

It's terrible stuff. The first time I had it in a dip I thought it was ok, but after that I just couldn't take it, even without knowing what was wrong with it nutritionally.

Exactly so, but why are they allowed to market them as 'Crab Sticks'? Kinda sticks in my craw...

Sure, I know.

I don't have the wrapper now but it was very clear from it that it's flavour and not actual crab. There's a lobster flavour version too....dunno why they'd want to spoil the taste with lobster though.

Next stop 'Cheese Fondue Sticks'.

That'd sell (for a few months)

Alaskan pollock is decent fish when it hasn't been turned into fake crab. I haven't looked for it recently but it used to be sold frozen in 2 lb boxes and fairly cheap, too. So was Boston Bluefish. Preparation (instructions on the package) was place frozen fillets in a pot of cold salted water, bring to a boil, remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 or 10 minutes (can't remember which). Time to get up, we're going fishing!

The frozen, beer battered version has been the best fish in batter I've had in Canada...until that fabulous battered cod in Kelsey's just before Christmas.
