Hunt balls largely consist of rich people behaving badly. The hunt is for foxes.

Very interesting sounds quite naughty they way you put it (the hunt for foxes that is!) Not sure why I was surprised it was for foxes considering we hunt for almost everything else. Are there ever any protests?

Not that I know of. In some areas/seasons coyotes are hunted instead of foxes. There isn't the same sensitivity about animals here as in the UK, for example, when the neighbour's dog ate our chicken everyone locally was astonished that we didn't shoot it straightway. Cruelty to horses (not providing water/shelter/leaving them out in nylon halters/not having their feet trimmed) is routine here. I've heard that seals don't do well here either but we don't have them locally.

Thank you for the info very interesting. I was thinking about exploring the option of taking on a couple of horses from a sanctuary as I had heard they often have horses that need to stay together preferably. so we will see. We are riding at the moment here at our local stables that has a great ride that stops off at the pub on the way for lunch, going to be hard to drop the habit when I return to Canada! Guess I can drink and ride here at the moment best to make the most of it. Bye for now.

ive been living in london ontario since april this year..i have just be offered a huge job in edmonton where i was wined and dined for a week by the company...its a more senior role than i had in the uk with a salary close to $150k inc bonuses..however what has struck me about Canada is the fact that in a lot of ways they are about 15years behind the uk especailly the clothes and hair and seem quite conservative in their views....also its the little things that are 2nd nature in the uk that are different that completely throw you. The pace of life is slower here..also i find that a lot of canadians are thick as s***! or lack common sense..but a friendly welcoming bunch all the same
Tv is rubbish..i dont like that they show the same programme on 4 or 5 different channels at the same time..especailly sport...i still cant find a shop like tescos...or cash points situated in a mall,,they dont chip and pin on credit cards but do on debit cards...women are just as useless on the roads as in the uk but drive bigger cars..there are fast food joints and drugstores every 10yards but no decent indian/chinese takeways..all prices are shown before tax..so always make sure you got more money than you think you need.
thing is i knew this before i emigrated permanently having been out before but you are never fully prepared for the culture shock.

I can't think of any other country, with the possible exception of Ireland, that is less of a culture shock after living in England. Christ knows how some of these people would cope in a country with a hot climate or where they didn't speak English.

I concur. It seems the lack of M&S and PG Tips is just too much for some peeps. The colonies just aren't what they used to be, I'm afraid.

Dammit, some folks have even taken up with the locals tch tch.

So you have a problem with a country where there is really no language barrier, same system (generally) of government and you are harping about relatively superficial things such as whether or not Canadians are as obsessed about the latest fashions and hair (which are generated by the fashion industry to ensure that they remain in business).

I'm sure these 'Canadians' just love you as you tell them that they are as thick as 'S*it'. Ever watched Vicky Pollard, or the antics of the WAGS and Rooney clan....not too much cerebral going on there.

TV being crap. The same holds true in the UK as there are lots of inane fabricated reality and celebrity shows on there. If you want sport, for a little bit of money you can watch sport from around the world and a lot of it has a minority interest here (rugby, footie, cricket).

I gather you aren't married or involved with a female based on your comments on their driving ability.

I hope your comments were tongue in cheek.
