I sent my resume (in English format) out to a few employers for part time office work, had no replies.
I looked on the wiki here and amended my resume accordingly. Sent my new Canadianised Resume to 3 companies today. Got a phone call earlier from one of them straight into a telephone interview.
My god was I unprepared, never had anyone do a suprise telephone interview on me in the UK!
I'll find out later in the week if I did well!
I put the fact I'm on a work permit at the very bottom of the resume, so they can see my good qualities as an employee before they see I'm an immigrant. I think that really made a difference.

you are right, there is a difference between the English CV and the Canadian Resume. It is common for them to ask questions over the telephone before a formal interview. Another tip as well, its common for them to ask for a list of references. Three references is usually the norm, and cannot be from relatives. If you have written ones, those should be just as good since your not born in Canada. I would also suggest to have a cover letter in front of your resume as well.
Good luck!

I was just wondering - would they not figure out anyway when looking at credentials and work history?

Hi I ve just done the same after reading this thread. changed over my cv/resume to a Canadian style format. I have left out status and age. It is still obvious that I was educated in the UK and work history is UK, So I will see if this makes a difference. I also gave the full discription of my qualifications rather than just NVQ & HNC ect.
We should list other good tips.
They seem to be keen on CPR over here so might be worth paying a $100 to go on a basic first aid course.

Of course the credentials are English but as for the employer, just give job title and employers name, no address details and then beef it up with a flattering job description. You really have to sell yourself.
