Default It's a small world!

Well as many of you know I work in a clothes shop, sometimes when a customer wants a size we have run out of we will call around and find the item in another store and ship it to that customer.

Today the phone rang and out of all the people working I answered - I had to check for a size for a customer, I found the item and was passed onto the customer - the very English sounding customer, so we did the usual oh where did you come from....Bedfordshire, Oh really where abouts, Ampthill Oh my god I used to live there too........

I just know one day I'll be walking down the street and I will come across Bert who used to live up the road

bet she wasn't looking for a size zero then ! And just what is that all about ? Surely zero in any language means "nothing " ?

Yep happened to me too in Nelson.

Went into a sports shop to buy some flip flops and the guy who served me at the counter was from my hometown (Leicester), granted he was - ahem some years - younger then me but turned out we used to frequent the same hangout in a place called Narborough!

How strange is that

Yea, sometimes coincidences can be quite amazing.
Why, only last week I was talking to a guy at work who turned out to be a complete tit too.

There you'll be singing it all day now!!

Couldn't resist, sorry

ps, for anyone who doesn't know, It's a small world is an irritating song from a ride in DisneyWorld.

Five of us were at the local Bistro one night when Orangecrush came over for a visit. We got chatting to the table of ladies next to us and one remarked about our accents.

One lady from New Glasgow said that she was living in Scotland at the moment but was back on a 2 month visit to see her kids at Uni. Within 5 minutes we discovered:
  • Her husband was working offshore in the UK Oil & Gas industry (OH worked offshore for 18 years prior to moving here)
  • She was living in Aberdeen (I lived in Aberdeen)
  • She gave me her husband's business card and we both had the same last name

My smalll world experience.

Way back in 1956, the first time I came to Canada.

We got off the boat in Quebec city and boarded the train for the rest of our trip to Edmonton.

We went down to the dining car for our first meal and the waiter recognized our scouse accents (who couldn't) and asked where about in Liverpool we were from?

My mother answered we weren't really from Liverpool but from Huyton a small town outside Liverpool.

He laughed and said he knew Huyton. Where in Huyton did we live?

So my mother told him Birch Road, he then asked my mother did we know a Annie Riley my mother's jaw dropped and she said that she was our next door neighbour that we had just left.

He replied she was his sister.

Cheers
Steve
