Nope, see previous post on what I've tried so far to charge it. I've ordered a couple of batteries with a couple of tools to get the iPOD apart, so I'll see what happens. I'm awaiting an expensive docking bay I used in the UK, it's in the container which arrives on Friday. It worked fine there so I'm hoping it'll work just as well here.

I don't know if the service is available in the UK but there are several companies here who will supply a battery, plus tools to open the iPOD for about $40, which includes postage. If it gets my music back I'd pay a lot more, I will then try some new software I've bought to copy it all off onto my PC.

I opened mine up (invalidating the warranty) and disconnected the battery, reconnected it and everything was fine.

Of course, this was after I bounced it off the ground several times - I like to think this helped.

Ha! might try that in a minute, after I've bounced it on the ground a few times, was it on concrete or carpet?

It probably comes as no surprise, but I don't own an iPod. But are you serious that changing the battery invalidates the warranty? WTF is that about?

Carpet though I believe that the harder the surface, the faster it solves the problem.

They assume that by the time you need to change the Lithium battery, the warranty will have run out and so you're only going to buy a new shiny one if you f**k up the change procedure.

Changing the battery within the warranty period means you haven't properly subjected yourself to the ignominious fault reporting process and all it entails. If you then decide to do it anyway then it's your own fault and they win again if you f**k it up as you'll no doubt buy a new one.

Either way you're royally screwed and possibly out of pocket for useless spare batteries that will be of a different and wholly incompatible design to the new iTwat you've just purchased.

God luv 'em all those cuddly megatechs.

As I said, I don't own one. And likely never will. What are they for? Is it anything to do with "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"?

It's a glorified mp3 player, but I'm sure you already knew that.

We have one, a christmas gift gift from my son. It's sort of nice to be able to take you music with you in the car, we can plug it into the car audio system.

For us it is sort of redundant as the audio system in the car is a four disc CD changer that also plays mp3 files. I have no idea how many mp3's I can get on a CD but it's a hell of a lot of music, times four.
