Default iPlayer...

I've been using the Chrome extension Beebs for ages, but yesterday it stopped working.

Anyone have any suggestions on alternatives?

I need my MasterChef fix.

Nevermind, an uninstall-reinstall of the extension worked.

When I found Beebs (using it on Opera alongside an add-on allowing Chrome add-ons) there was Beebs Premium which was a pay version.
Now the Beebs version seems to involve a fee but the premium one doesn't. I still have the free original attached to Opera on my laptop but a new installation of Opera on another computer couldn't get the free Beebs but it could get the Premium.

There is an alternative one that works with Chrome. makeme vpn is the one I think. It looked poor quality first time I tried it but it cleared up after half a minute.

I have Beebs and never paid for it and it was working last time I used it but just checked now and it says I need to be in the UK for the Iplayer etc. I think if I was to uninstall/reinstall I'd have to go for the paid version.

I have version 8.0.2 if that means anything.

I will give makeme vpn a whirl

According to my Opera Browser:
Beebs is version 7.0.8
Beebs Premium is version 8.0.2

Premium is the one on the right

Yes, that's the weird thing. I have them both on my laptop, the 'basic' was free some time ago.

I tried to add Beebs to Opera on a spare computer but it needed payment. The Premium version was free.

It's working fine again for me, and free. Uninstalling and reinstalling did it.

It didn't work for me. I tried on Opera and another browser that claims to have a built in VPN. It appears as though the BBC is go after VPN's. If only they offered IPlayer as an app here like they do for Netflix, Amazon Prime, DAZN etc.

After uninstalling, do I have to pay?

When downloading Beebs, you are given a licence to the software.
Google are the sole issuers of that licence, if you have downloaded Beebs prior to August 2018, you should still have access to the free version.
If you do not have access, then you should login to the Google Account you were using when you first downloaded Beebs. If that does not work, you may have to purchase Beebs to continue using the service.
If you are still unsatisfied for losing your free account, please email ( link on link) or create a ticket (on link)

That's interesting. Maybe I think of it differently - or wrongly? - but that looks like a regular download/install rather than adding an add-on, or extension, to the browser which is what I have.

I know one can download, save and then install to a browser but it's not the same process as using the find add-on within the browser tools.

I have previously found and installed MediaHint and NoSquint independently of the browser method as well as within it. But my Beebs and Beebs Premium add-ons have both come via the browser tools

Interesting.... I got to Beebs first when it was linked in another thread on here, and that was back in 2017, so I guess I fall prior to the 2018 situation which is why I haven't had to pay.

I just find it by googling "Beebs Chrome" and installing via the app store connected to Chrome.

It has been excellent for bingeing BBC News these past two weeks...
