just wondering if anyone knows the best way to travel - last minute or book, as prices we have found seem expensive - £600 for two return? is this right or can we get it cheaper?

Internal flights are more expensive than Europe. (Less population, greater distances)
You really only have two choices, Air Canada or West Jet and they pretty much mirror each others prices. The closer you get to the day of the flight the more expensive the seats, is the general rule here.
The Canadian market place can really only have two major airlines, others have tried to break into the market, but in reality its not that big a market place and financially can't support more than two Companies.

I remember my OH pricing a last minute flight from Montreal to NYC which isn't really that far (not internal I know) and it was going to be $900.00

It's hard for anyone on here to come up with a price as we don't know when you want to travel.
I just put in for two YYZ to YWG and return starting on April 8th and returning April 29th just to get an idea and lo and behold they have a seat sale those days.

$679 all taxes included.

Think of it as an adventure.
You did say 600 pounds for flights, not $600?

That certainly sounds very reasonable (if reasonable's a word I should use when talking about airfares from Winnipeg
).
