internal flights toronto - winnipeg

just wondering if anyone knows the best way to travel - last minute or book, as prices we have found seem expensive - £600 for two return? is this right or can we get it cheaper?

Internal flights can be surprisingly expensive. Which Airline did you try?

Internal flights are more expensive than Europe. (Less population, greater distances)

You really only have two choices, Air Canada or West Jet and they pretty much mirror each others prices. The closer you get to the day of the flight the more expensive the seats, is the general rule here.

The Canadian market place can really only have two major airlines, others have tried to break into the market, but in reality its not that big a market place and financially can't support more than two Companies.

The flight prices can be a bit of a shock when you're used to Easy Jet!!
I remember my OH pricing a last minute flight from Montreal to NYC which isn't really that far (not internal I know) and it was going to be $900.00

Check the WestJet site. http://c5dsp.westjet.com/guest/home.shtml

It's hard for anyone on here to come up with a price as we don't know when you want to travel.

I just put in for two YYZ to YWG and return starting on April 8th and returning April 29th just to get an idea and lo and behold they have a seat sale those days. :)

$679 all taxes included.

Have you thought of driving? If you're both drivers then it's a two-day 2,220km/ (via Chicago) or 2,100km (via Barrie and Thunder Bay) trip each way and would cost you around $200 in gas each way at reasonable speeds, plus food and a a night each way at a Super 8 motel at either Thunder Bay or between Chicago and Minneapolis.

Think of it as an adventure.

You did say 600 pounds for flights, not $600?

If I could get 400 CAD each (return) on that route I used to do a dance of joy, never bettered that and frequently spent more :(

See my post above $339.50 taxes and airport charges all in. ;)

You have to check WestJet daily apparently.

Oh yes  - I skimmed and didn't realise it was for two!

That certainly sounds very reasonable (if reasonable's a word I should use when talking about airfares from Winnipeg ;) ).
