Ikea coming to Winnipeg

Personally I can take it or leave it, I don't particularly enjoy assembling sub-average furniture with an allen key for hours on end.

Talking of immigrants, I was somewhat surprised to read this morning that the largest immigrant group coming to Canada last year was Filipinos.

A large number of my nurses and nursing assistants over the last week in hospital were Filipino. Most of my nurses were new to the hospital (within three months) some from outlying communities some from other parts of Canada and some immigrants.
I only heard what might be called a new UK accent once and never had that person as one of my nurses.

Although on the one hand that also surprises me, on the other hand it doesn't.

It's similar around Vancouver. We also tend to see a lot of Filipino women working as nannies and housekeepers.

That's an oxymoron isn't it? Canada and "environmental impact studies" in the same sentence?

Widening of Route 90 has been on the agenda for a while, and I see in the paper this morning further monies has been added.
Not that adding more lanes solves the problem of congestion.
