I will NEVER fly with Flyglobespan EVER AGAIN!!!

Old or reconstructed. There are some very big tits in Gatineau. The men also seem mainly to be muscle-bound and tattooed.
Most amused yesterday. Souvette, who had cycled to work, rang me up and suggested we meet for an after-work drinkie at a bar with a terrace. We'd never been there before. We both cycled there. It was most pleasant on the terrace. Me, a 10-stone drip dressed like something out of It Ain't Half Hot Mum. Her, a comely and well-engineered bird in Lycra. The other 50 or so customers? Mostly muscle-bound and tattooed construction workers.
Did I feel cocky? Not at all. Ish.

Presumably there no shortage of silicone either.

That's pretty much the point of lycra innit? As for silicone, I'm not sure. I have no experience of the stuff but I think it was banned in Canada some years ago.

We used to live not far from Lasham. Most of the air traffic at that field was from the gliding club, but the occasional large airliner would come along and wake everyone up. I think the comets had gone out of service by then (this was circa 1983) and I wouldn't know a DC-whatsit from a Boeing thingamajig, but I used to go with my dad to the airfield so I could have a go at driving the car round the perimeter road (something about being a private road and therefore not quite illegal for me to do so while still too young for a licence). I remember once having to stop at the traffic lights at the edge of the runway while this bloody great thing came rattling down out of the sky - one of those jobs with three engines all at the back - 727?

God, Dan Air London, that brings back mamories of long-lost youth - their aircraft servicing facility was at Lasham Airfield in Hampshire, in what looked like a corrugated tin shed at one end of the runway. Having seen where they rewound the rubber bands, I'm glad I never flew Dan Air.

Yes, as I recall it was a very hairy flight. I am pleased to be able to say I flew in a Comet - they were Britain's first jet airliner and eventually went on to be converted to the Nimrod (RAF Maritime Reconnaisance).

I seem to recall there were some dead Comets parked at Lasham being cannibalised for spares... pretty things. Did I read somewhere not long ago that there was a campaign to keep the last one airworthy (or restore to airworthiness) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first transatlantic jet passenger service next year, or am I making that up?
I'm not sure about that. However, I am sure that the last remaining airworthy Vulcan is close to flying once more.
Based at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire (about 45 mins from where I live) it has been lovingly restored by a private consortium. If successful, this will be the first time a complex military aircraft has been returned to flight by a non-military outfit.
XH558 is a beauty to behold. For those who are interested, go to: http://www.tvoc.co.uk/default.asp

Well I never!
I found this at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Comet
The last Comet to fly was Canopus (Serial XS235) which is kept in running condition at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome where it regularly conducts fast taxi runs. There is a campaign to return Canopus to flight, with the current goal to have it in the air by the 50th anniversary of the first regular transatlantic jet service which started on 4 October 1958.

I totally agree with you!
The best times I've had on KLM flights was with older female crew and totally gay male crew. I don't know how many times I've ended up in the kitchen area chatting with the crew sitting on a box, jump seat or whatever (floor will do) helping myself to drinks and snacks yapping away the hours it takes to cross the atlantic.
AC from LAX to YYZ was the red eye and they let me sleep.
Business on pan european on AF is comparable to *ghasp* Ryan Air *ghasp* and the miles I spent from my FB membership were waisted.
UA E+ were way better than C on KLM MD11
Wait a minute! Who moved www.flyertalk.com to this site?

Anyone flown Sterling Airways? Charter airline from Denmark. In Scandinavia we call the Störting Airways (Crashing Airways). Don't ask me why. (And I have flown them)
Just as some americans call South West - South Worst. (never flown them)
I forgot to list EasyJet. Not bad actually. Really pleased with them.

I flew Globespan in Business Class - man to toronto and it was a nightmare. The plane had no pillows or blankets. No lounge offered even though it's included plus the fact the plane was old, dark and dingy with footrests literally hanging off the seats. Audio had two channels and there were a few electrical issues I spotted. Never again, the customers service is appalling.
In my local paper, it states tht the Liverpool to New York service is cutting down drastically due to low numbers and my sources tell me this is far from the truth. I wonder why? The Toronto service is also receiving complaints. Icelandic air crew with little english and unscheduled stopovers amongst others. I think Globespan have leaped beyond themselves, expanding too soon too fast.
unless they buck there ideas up with customers, they won't have an airline. It's a shame as I know if they did, it might be ok.
