Meh, there are lots of anti establishment anarchist types in Vancouver. Much of this is organized by groups of people dressed in black and many non hockey fans who may have bought a jersey. The real Canuck fans are crushed. I feel for the police, they have to respond and work in this crap. I hope they break some skulls tonight. Of course if they try and step in you know there will be whiners who will blame them.
Unlike you though, I do not hope to see anyones skull broken. At least the police are using some restraint unlike the police violence at the G8 conference in Toronto. It is however disgusting to see the live TV shots of all the looting that is going on. What is the matter with people????

It's disgusting......Whoever made the comparison to Man Utd fans are bang on.....This looks like a British footie riot, not a hockey game :0( None of this is something to be proud of. These people are giving Vancouver, Ice Hockey and Canada a bad name.
Anyone with cars parked in downtown Vancouver should be nervous.......Even in parking garages....Insane.

As a Man Utd fan for over 35 years I resent your comment. In all my years as a supporter on the terraces, both home and away, I've never witnessed a riot like that in Vancouver tonight.
And furthermore, whilst I agree that the British footy fan has had a bad reputation they are by no means the worst offenders for footy violence. Such riots are almost commonplace between certain clubs in countries such as South America, Turkey, Italy, Russia and France.
Also, much of the violence is generally created by 'organised thugs' hell bent on causing trouble rather than genuine fans, whatever the sport may be, and I'm pretty sure the same can be said of the violence in Vancouver tonight.

Been here only a week and a half! We have been to Vancouver many times and have just got a place in Burnaby. But in the meantime been staying in False Creek, so can see the smoke plumes across the beautiful city scape.
I come from Liverpool so used to football violence and idiot football rioting fans, so really sad to see this in such a beautiful, friendly city.
Not put me off Vancouver at all...I love it here. And don't be put if you are moving here.
But rioting in any city is stupid, so let's hope all the photos that have been taken on cell phones get those idiots!

Besides they know they have the most money so they'll just win the league again next year because they are so good. It's such a great club I would love to associate myself with it.
Back on with the Hockey and I think Souvy's prediction whilst being kind of predictable was accurate.
What did happen to Vancouver? Two highly focused first games and then they just seem to lose their ability to create goals.

This is the first game I watched. Based on this site, I was expecting the home team to be elegant and full of skill and the visitors to be unskilled and bruisers. Most of the shitty hits came from the home team, the visitors, on this one game, were the more skilled by a long way. It would appear that the best team won.

Manchester United fans are from Southern England, Asia and a few in North America. There is no point rioting as there is nothing near Old Trafford that would cause any disturbance. Besides they all have to get back on their tourist buses to get out of the city so no time to riot or they miss the bus.
