I feel sick!

Hi & thanks for that. We are pleased he's been picked but, so have 5 other 16y/os from his school. We live in a rural area so the "usual" money raising paths are not available. He's having his head shaved at school in front of the staff & pupils & looking for sponsorship from them & friends. I'm sure he'll make it just uncomfortable with it.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
If you are uncomfortable with it then you pay the $2500. What help did you want from people on here? Donations towards the fund?
If so then you could have worded your request a little better because to the the untrained eye it does read "my grandson needs $2500 to play football, wants to raise money himself by doing something we don't want him to, so can you all dig deep please".

He really needs a proper cut now to get some style back, but an 18 yr old does what he likes (or what his g/f tells him to!!!!!

I agree with everyone else that it shows great initiative.

I hope this clarifies.
Thanks everyone.
PS forgot Mandy, all the best.

I'm sorry if that's how you read it too. It was not my intention. My grandson is extremely popular & will no doubt raise the funds he needs. I'll let you all know, you cynics you. I just hope his hair grows back normally & wish I`d never bothered opening this thread!!! Foolish me.

It's just that in the world of keyboards and screens things can get lost in translation. My friend shaved her hair off last year (beautiful very long hair) to raise money for breast cancer, it's growing back just fine, but she actually looked super cute with the Sinead O'Connor thing going on.
Just think how popular your grandson will be for doing this, like someone else advised, get the local rag involved - he'll raise his goal in no time

As an amateur demonologist told me shaving your head at such a young age can be quite risky, the shock of it could lead to alopecia, where all the hair falls out forever. I'd be quite concerned about it, and I'd recommend other ways of funding your grandsons sporting aspirations. You don't want a bald child, have you thought about appealing for donations?

My son shaved his head last year .... for no good reason at all really.
I didn't want him to, but it was his hair .... he actually looked quite cute, but anyway, he's let it all grow back now .... last week his girl friends dyed it pink for him!
It's really not the end of the world, and as others have said, great that he's showing some initiative.
edit: YOUR boy I mean, not mine!!
