How's the heat?

Been warm around here, and no real cool down forecast for the next 10 days is temps to be in the low 30's with some days up to 33/34.

Yesterday in the shade my thermometer was reading 32, 38 on the sunny side.

Not too bad at home with a/c but at work some of us are getting major headaches from the heat, its already 29 inside the building. Shall be interesting to see how hot it gets inside today.

17C outside currently, they say 33 today for the high.

Do you love or hate the heat?

I dislike it, enjoy the sun just not the heat, but I get heat related illness and headaches if I get too active when it's this warm.

Yes love it. We are being promised 30C next week - or as the UK media likes to term it "hotter than the Mediteranean!". Bring it on.

It's strangely very pleasant here. No humidity yet. There have only been a couple of properly hot days so far and the year (weather and growth wise) seems to be offset by a whole month.

The weather was very nice last night at our dock party. A bbq and three kegs of beer plus a rum bar, unfortunately some naffing selfish bastard brought a couple of bottles of grappa to share. :(

It may stop heat seeking Brits flying to places with high Muslim populations and risking their lives. It can happen anywhere but IMO much riskier where Islam is predominant.

If it didn't zap my energy and make me ill when I try to do anything outside, I might not care, but I was out yesterday doing some outdoor stuff, and my body hated me.

I am currently surrounded by 3 fans as its 29 inside at the moment, and still sweating like mad...lol

Re: How's the heat?

Horrible. It's going to be around 28 degrees today here on the east side of mid Vancouver Island. On the west side, in Port Alberni it's going to be 35 degrees. This isn't comfortable. About 21 degrees would be about right. Vancouver Island is one of the areas of BC that is at Stage 3 drought (see also the Okanagan). With the high heat and lack of rain forecast for the next 10 days, we'll be at Stage 4 drought - the highest level. Right now, we're allowed to water lawns only three times a week. I think within the next couple of weeks, we'll be banned from watering them altogether. Grass and deadfall are bone dry and the fire hazard is high. We've had next to no rain for the past two months. Lying on the beach getting slowly cooked might sound like a great way to spend the day but there are some huge disadvantages to this level of heat (apart from the risk of skin cancer).

I ran around this morning in Delta trying to get some of my PR application chores out of the way before it starts getting much hotter. It was already too hot. I feel really bad for all the kids playing Baseball in the park next to our apartment.

No issue here with heat this week end, mildly moist is what it is

Re: How's the heat?

30 degrees in Calgary today, warmer tomorrow. It's 27/28 in the house and awful. For the eighth year in a row, I'm muttering that we ought to get air conditioning (for the three weeks of the year that we need it).

A nice mall or a cinema might cool me off for an hour or two till the sun goes down! Too busy running around being the kid's taxi service so won't be heading out to a lake this weekend, but a nice dunk in the fresh cold water would have been nice.

When the weather is really hot it makes being the forest or even sitting in the shade all the more comfortable. It also means the evening is going to be very warm outside. I wouldn't stay in the sun in that kind of weather, but generally I think it makes staying outside in shorts very easy.

It's ok but annoyed last night trying to get an outside patio seat at tap and barrel in false creek. I'm meeting up with someone this afternoon (after a terrible walk out inspection of my old place this morning and a knob head of an ex housemate who just accepted everything they wanted to deduct) and want to have a margarita on a patio not inside.

I do need to go by Canadian tire or superstore later to get a fan, my place is getting very warm

Re: How's the heat?

I had a bout of 'summer stomach flu' on Thursday night. I haven't barfed so much (or so loudly, apparently!!) for about 10 years.

Unpleasant in this heat, to say the least. It didn't help that I couldn't even keep small sips of water down :( meaning that I was dehydrated as f**k by Friday morning...

Friday was they first day I've had off sick in about 5 years.

It doesn't actually feel as hot in Maple Ridge today as it did yesterday, but that's probably because I feel a bit more alive today...

Currently sat in the cool of the basement, rearranging the furniture for impending visitors. The dog keeps insisting on playing fetch-the-ball via the basement door and panting like a crazy fool every time she comes back...

How different is that from the Spring, Fall and Winter versions?

Our dog has no interest going outside in this heat, she goes out to do her business and back in as fast as she can.

This is her first experience with this kind of heat and she appears not be liking it much.

It's 87 F at work, I've got 4 fans going around me which seems to work, but still feeling fatigued and a throbbing headache, been drinking 1 liter bottles of water like its going out of style. :p

Home in 1/2 hour to a/c land. Nice 21 inside the apartment waiting for me.

Dunno, but this one is going round work suddenly in the hot weather...

31 °C today and it's supposed to be 34 °C tomorrow.

And the HOA has just turned down my request to be allowed to put up awnings. Even removable awnings. And I don't have central AC. :sneaky:

So basically I have to sit in a corner near a portable AC unit because that's all we're allowed.

I was in LV a few years ago when he temps hit the same. The extreme heat stopped the planes from flying.

I love the heat. After a very long and cold winter in Toronto...summer hasn't started yet. :(

Well I'm not.

But the plastic-one is marginally justified. His #15 was supposed to be quoting #14 but he screwed it up.

Absolutely. Tolerance and respect is massively important in these times, and those willing to make the difference should be commended.

On that note, it's so kind of you to be so willing to accommodate us all in France.

Do you have sufficient wine and food?

Of course. I think you know our house well and may be in a better position than I to comment on the remaining supplies.

I worked in Phoenix airport and our operating manuals went to 116 at the time, we hit that a few times, all flights had to stop until the temp dropped.

After that certification was given to 122F.

United either this past winter or the previous winter had a few days in Winnipeg where it got too cold and past the temp that was in their manuals for the plane type and needed to cancel flights.

Re: How's the heat?

38 here tomorrow, similar to today. Spent all day under the shade of a tree by the lake where its a little cooler and of course the odd dip to cool off. Plenty of water and lots of snacks and a BBQ for dinner, all at the beach and we will be there again tomorrow.
Travel to and from beach in car with A/C on and come home to house with A/C on. It really isn't too bad. :p

Working in it sucks of course as do the ever increasing wildfires that seem to pop up every day. Two started today locally and 2 yesterday!
No mention of water restrictions yet in our area of the Okanagan but maybe it will come.
