Re: How's the heat?

I think it's warmer today. We have 4 fans running today + 1 industrial fan.

Home isn't bad, the portable keeps the place around 25 or so.

Just hard working in an office setting with clothing not suited for these temps, and being sweaty is not fun.

Plus the complaints non-stop from customers, gotta pretend like its just a recent issue to try and keep them from being too upset.

Officially it wasn't that hot here, but I got a recording of 36 on my thermometer outside which is in a shaded area, so no direct sun.

Waiting with anticipation for this rain dump that's inevitably going to happen any hour now. The air is going to be sooooooooo clear afterwards... I can't wait for this mugginess to be gone!

Looks like rain anytime now here too, the only worse then worse then high temps, is high temps and high humidity.

The high temps don't appear go be going anywhere though, 7-10 days in the forecast.

Raining lightly here now - possibly thunderstorms coming.
Has been 34 here over the weekend. Gardened on Saturday morning from 8am, but had to come in at 10:30am, as it was too hot to work in the sun.

Sitting in the river is very cooling. B-)

It rained this morning; first there was thunder, then the pitter-patter of raindrops, then about 10 minutes later the wail of the fire siren announcing the fruit of lightning. Helicopters are still flying in and out with buckets full of water from the lake slung underneath.

Re: How's the heat?

Today is the warmest so far, currently 30C officially, my thermometer in the shade says 32C, so warmer then the weekend, apparently feels like 35 when humidity is accounted for.

It cooled down nicely last night with the rain, at 1am it was down to 68F but today appears to just be sunny with no rain in sight.(they do have some in the forecast, but we shall see if it arrives.)

I was at home depot buying some egg crate, and they had a/c units flying off the shelf, the 3 people in front of me all had a/c units in their carts.

I know, I'm off to get a few bevies and then go swimming out near Point Atkinson to cool down.

If I could get the time off, I'd be on a plane flying 1,300 miles or so south and spend a week or 2 in San Diego to escape this heat.

They are forecast to be between 22-24 for the next week and some change.

(they are a /couple/few degrees below average for this time of year.)

Some pikeys were swimming in False Creek earlier this afternoon. I stood and watched while my dog peed on the e-coli warning signs

That's disgusting, you need to go out to Howe Sound that way the current keeps the water fresh. Plus, one can pick some pop at Ambleside on the way, one just has to keep an eye on the tide as at low tide I can't get near the dock. :(

Thunder for the past 20 minutes and the fire siren just went off, fire truck siren still audible. When it's this dry every bolt of lightning seems to start a fire. Now more sirens...

I am kind of surprised we are only at stage 1 water restrictions still, although it's going to stage 2 on July 6th but it always does in July.

As long as it doesn't get to stage 4, I don't want my pumpkins to die....

June one was of the driest for the region as well, the stats are for YVR but the region as a whole was pretty dry, 11mm of rain vs an average of 53mm for a normal June.

I returned from the store with biscuits around the time the above was posted. Where there's a will, there's a way. Did a few little chores to take care of my conscience and now Dr. Bombay is making a house call. Soccer and cold beer in 2 hours, that's what I'll do about the heat.

Yep, naff it, if you people are having a nice bank holiday parading about with maple leaf flags in your hair I’m taking the rest of the afternoon off to drink beer and watch the match.

It was right, I checked it with the one in the phone.

When I got to work there was already a car in the best spot, "what you doing here so early?" I asked the owner. He explained that he'd stayed at a relative's house overnight and "they keep the windows open, I hadn't brought a coat so I shivered until it got light and came to work". Yesterday someone told me that she'd been to a barbecue this week and worn her winter coat.

This is a Canadian heatwave.
