I aimed for 2 at best. Most were just guesses apart from the pub fight question.

You do realise that being the spelling nazi on an internet forum is pretty much the lowest form if modern humanity?

Well I got 99% on the canadian one and 3 wrong on the british one.
Hmm, have to think what this means :)

That the Canadian one is made so risibly easy because they don't want people to fail.

Re: How British are you?

I scored 10 and I haven't lived in the UK for 45 years.

I just chose the most logical answers, which didn't help when it came to dog licences and choosing a lawyer.

Re: How British are you?

I scored 8, and haven't lived there since '75. I got the dog license one wrong, the lawyer one, emergency phone numbers, and number of scots/welsh. So really that wasn't too bad I guess.

On the Canadian one, just doing the test without reading the book, I got 93%, mostly from guessing!

How on earth does this help anybody?
'The UK introduced the 112 number to help foreign visitors who may not know that 999 is the main emergency number.'

If they don't know 999 is the emergency number why would they know 112 is?

Isn't that the emergency number in much of Europe?

Technically, yes, although it seems to run in parallel with existing numbers.

It is available in just about all 27 EU states but only about one person in five is aware of it.

I got 10. Don't agree with some of the supposedly "right" answers, though - particularly the solicitors one. I would have asked both of the other two questions before worrying about the one they claim would be the deal-breaker.

My guess is that the solicitor should self-review for conflict of interest and technical competence before accepting the client, therefore fees are the correct answer by elimination.

I got it wrong too. The trouble with this kind of quiz, if you haven't read the book, is that you have to guess the level it is pitched at.

6. What an odd selection of questions, at least I got the Santa question right. Not bad considering I don't particularily want to be British....or live in the UK anyway!

Can't believe you HAVE to be married for 1 year before you can get divorced - how awful.

They were not that easy, as people have mentioned, why santa?????

Re: How British are you?

Maybe i`m speaking out of line but I would think that if there are questions that need answering by potential immigrants to any country they should be about the following

1) The law relating to everyday stuff.
2) Driving
3) Utlilities - cost of / where to get the information from
4) Working
5) Cost of living / taxes etc
6) Health / dental care

If people have a basic grasp of the everyday workings of a society before they arrive then in theory you would by default live that way, as its the way you've learned before getting there.

NOT

Where is Santa from
How not to get murdered in a bar (tho I can see its point)
Local Tbags

Just my 2 penneth worth

Do you think this question is any more sensible?

What form of transportation did Aboriginal peoples and fur traders use to create trading networks in North America?

a) Roads
b) Waterways
c) Railways
d) Air

Maybe it's to distract people from the otherwise depressing mixture of arrest procedure, pub brawls and divorce!
