Unlikely, but no doubt true in some cases. However, the wiki is intended to be self regulating, The idea is that if you find the info is wrong, then you edit it for the benefit of those who follow. Thats why the wiki should be the first port of call.

New users must surely be able to feel that they can ask questions freely [no matter how stupid they may seem to Canadian residents - people would not ask the question if they knew the answer]; If the first answer to "What do you miss .." or "Is life better in Canada .." had all the wisdom from the old hands, surely nobody would post that question again?
You would think, but most people are just too lazy to check I figure

Surely you need to be encouraging questions from new members so that they feel they have a more personal response? Also, if people don't want to reply they don't have to [rather than being rude, as some clearly are].
I agree, Im just pointing out the benefit of searching if you want a trully balanced picture. Rudeness Im afraid is a side effect of internet annonymity, I would much prefer if people just ignored threads they have no interest in contributing to in a positive way. If people are really aggressive and offensive, let me know, its why Im here.

I understand the logic in searching through previous questions, and on a purely practical level you may find the answer you were looking for, but take this to the extreme, and you will just have a stock of old answers, no new questions, and numerous "old hands" strumming their fingers with nothing to do!

I wish...this lot will always find something to do!

Please keep this forum fresh and new and encourage new members to ask whatever questions they need to. After all, for some people this will be their first taste of Canadian life, and it all goes towards how people feel about the country and it's people.

Sorry if I've gone on a bit, but we need to be encouraged and welcomed!
Hey, Im trying here! No one said not to post new questions, I just said dont expect people to answer it for the 13th time and to be sure to check out whats gone before.

As I mentioned in the PM I sent you, go read the advice left by moderators past about how to get the best from the forum. I didnt write it, but there is much wisdom within.

On the other hand if you have reason to think something untoward is going on, then report it to a mod rather than wash your dirty laundry in public...

Sometimes. But if recent posts are at the top instead - as I believe you have now selected - you still have to scroll down to find where you were anyway, so it's really not that different. It's a bit like going somewhere when left and right is the same distance as right and left, although I accept we all have different preferences.

The "first unread post" feature covers both situations. Especially when there's more than one page added since the last visit and that's the only way of at least getting to the right page.
